But verily you must concur with the overarcing opinion that the infantile juvenilia of Western animated pictures is incapable of holding the proverbial candle to the depth of Japanese animé. And no, I do not merely proclaim this of the aforementioned cartoon featuring brightly technicolored ponies. In truth, this is a iron-clad aphorism that does not contain any exceptions. Vis-à-vis the animation from Japan, the output from the Western civilizations does not compare. For surely as the solar orb arises in the Eastern sky and lowers itself over the horizon in the West, so too does the entertainment from Japan lift itself up into the atmosphere, high above the West.

The Japanese Otaku. (Scientific Name: Akihabarus Otaku)

A large mammalian herbivore, native to Japan and other parts of Asia. The otaku is a solitary creature, subsisting primarily on a diet of ramen noodles and softcore animated pornography. Otaku are non-migratory by nature, making their homes in small, darkened, cave like dwellings and venturing forth only to forage for DVDs and maybe some erotic figures now and then. Despite its hefty size, the otaku's slow and cowardly nature has given rise to many natural predators, the greatest being the Adult Human Female. In response, many otaku have developed special "stink glands". These glands, which secrete a substance known as "B.O." serve to repel the human female until the otaku can safely retreat to its nest.

Additionally, the otaku faces competition from it's natural enemy, the Greater Japanese Fujoshi (a sister species of the Human female, although the two diverged some time ago and are now considered largely incompatible). Though not predatory in nature, the fujoshi competes for much of the same territory and resources such as time slots on late night TV and materials such as PVC and body pillow stuffing. Although, both creatures timid natures and general phobia of the opposite sex tend to prohibit direct interaction.

the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species currently lists the otaku as "endangered" as a result of their dwindling population and growing inability to survive in the wild. However, thus far, conservation efforts have yielded little success. Much like the Chinese Giant Panda, attempts to breed the otaku in captivity have ended in failure. This has led some scientists to theorize that the otaku is in fact asexual (or whatever the term is for someone who prefers to bang a body pillow with a cartoon 12 year old on it) but the prevailing theory remains that they are simply "super lame".

Fujoshi seem to be loving it. Predictable sexist double-standard BS from people crying about how their beloved KyoAni might pander to an audience that isn't them doesn't mean they're going to just leave all this money on the table.

What's it to you if a for-profit animation studio makes a show that isn't specifically targeted to open your personal wallet and instead decides to spend a little time opening other wallets, anyway? Are they not allowed in your little treehouse anymore if they're caught talking to girls on the playground or something?
