Hooray for the Durarara novels getting released in English! My birthday is in July, guess I know what my birthday present to myself is going to be. Very Happy

Little by little, Yen Press is getting more and more of the light novel series I've wanted to read, but never thought I'd get the chance to. So to Yen Press, I say, a big "thank you very much!" Very Happy

That is totally NOT what Lovely said (well, not all of it). She neglected to include the "gktsurafihpfjbjぎgdじおdrついいおっwqwp!!!!dつきs7790sdf!!!" part as well.

As for me, I'm probably more excited about Black Bullet and Strike the Blood than Drrr, but I'll read all 3. Rust Blaster seems like it could be interesting, too, and it's only one volume, so not bad.

Dess is directly quoting me there too Anime hyper .

Still peeved at Yen Press for putting a skanky porno cover on Spice & Wolf.

Did they ever rerelease that without the crappy cover?

More importantly, was that a one-time thing, or are they still pulling that crap?

I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive them and move on now :)
(also, as far as I know, all Yen's LN series use the original Japanese cover artwork these days.)

Oh wow, never thought I'd see the day! Durarara!! is a day 1 buy for me.

So Yen, if I buy every DRRR!! novel, what are our chances of getting Baccano! over here? Wink (Well, I can dream anyway.)

Once again, Yen Press does what Seven Seas should be doing and wins my money.

Thanks for licensing DRRR, StB and Black Bullet.

I have the original japanese cover (thank god for waiting it out until the original cover is released) of Spice & Wolf: Vol. 1 without slip jacket. That crappy cover has long since discontinued because the fans really hate it and so it has been replaced with the original japanese cover without the need for the slip jacket (in a nutshell, yes, they did rereleased that without that crappy cover). Smile

I'm going for Black Bullet and Strike the Blood manga when they're released. Still on the fence about their light novels, though.

Would be far more interested in the Baccano! LNs than Durarara!!, but I guess that's just never happening, is it?

It might. I like to think that the success of SAO led to Log Horizon getting licensed so maybe the same thing will happen here.

From a twitter reply: DRRR, Strike the Blood, and Black Bullet light novels will all receive digital releases in North America and the UK.

Great news and thanks for the response!

Spice and Wolf cover saga was odd. When I bought the first novel it had the Japanese ver on a dust cover and the US printed on the book. Then with vol 2-6 the US image was a removable dust cover with the original Japanese artwork printed on the book. Vol 7 to current is the original Japanese only. Now newer printings of vols 1-6 have original Japanese. Hey! I own the collectors editions! Wink

For people who are up to date with the latest volume, thanks to the hard work of many great translators and outside of the US this is horrible news.

The only one of these novels that had any real work put into it by fan translators was DRRR and even that was hosted in six billion different places by live journal "translators".

This isn't like Index where 20+ volumes of the novel had been lovingly translated at one particular site with a decent reader app and being licensed was really a setback for the fans.

Rather than being bitchy about it, you should be happy that you are able to support the novelist, aren't forced to jump through hoops to read it and are receiving a professional translation.
