My cat, Ember, died last July at the age of 18.

If I ever get another cat, I'd seriously consider naming him "Spencer" (if it's a male). It might not seem like a very "anime" name, but it's inspired by a gag in the Strawberry Marshmallow manga: Matsuri Sakuragi, who already owns a ferret named "John", is thinking about getting a cat and she wonders what she would name it. Meanwhile, Miu Matsuoka has gotten ahold of an atlas of the United States of America and is reading place names she thinks sounds funny just to annoy everyone. Miu gets stuck on "Spencer" (state unknown, although Iowa and Massachussetts both have Spencers with just over 11K population as of the last census), so Matsuri imagines a rather dignified black cat with that name.

Whenever I see Scarlet from Space Dandy I immediately think of Jessie from Pokemon.

Indeed it is. I am a KyoAni character and I take offense to that.

"racism" aside

Here are some long lost twins I found:
Togo Mimori (Yuki Yuna is a Hero)

Yasuhara Ema (Shirobako)

Rico from Gunslinger Girls and Pico from Boku no Pico. The artstyle differences between Madhouse and Natural High''s productions obscure some of it, but their character designs really are similar.

I know, right? One of the following characters is Haruhi Suzumiya from Nichijou and the other is Munto from Full Metal Panic, but hell if I can tell who's who!

Normally I'd compare Sieg Hart and Jellal, but they were made by the same guy and the resemblance was intentional.

Wasn't Pico designed as an off-brand version of Bridget from Guilty Gear without the nun's habit?

I believe the doujin circle that did the character designs for Boku no Pico had already done a couple of Bridget doujins.

Laughing Well, I would say that there are some characters over the last few years that do look similar in KyoAni works.

Ones that I can think off the top of my head are Chitanda (Hyouka, jymmy's left pic) and Mitsuki (Beyond the Boundary), along with Oreki (Hyouka...wish someone would license that series) and Kanie (AmaBuri).

But, yeah, to say all is a step too far. I will say, it does seem like there is a KyoAni "house style" that seems to be quite prevalent now.

You must include mirror-universe Ginko.

Regarding the poll, Big Hero 6. Second best animation of the year. The judging panel at Academy Awards this year are pure idiotic old men for snubbing The LEGO Movie.

I'm putting Ginko in the "characters that look like animals" group. Wink

What, no Hibari Kyoya and Kogami Shinya? Come on, they're practically the same person...especially when comparing TYL!Hibari to Kogami....Anime hyper. (though it also helps they happened to have the same designer...)

LOL, with the generic garbage that dominates todays anime character designs, you can find "Long Lost Anime Twins" ANYWHERE.
