I wouldn't even call most of the character designs moe, really. Some of them look young, but I don't think any of them are particularly cutesy, or protect-able, or however you want to define a moe design (so to be fair, it's pretty easy to think differently about this).
People tend to interpret the designs in very moe ways, but I think the better ones veer way from that. ZUN's actual art is a different subject altogether. But yeah, as Clarste said, there's really no moe here outside of fandom. I think if Suwako heard someone call her a waifu, assuming she cared at all, you'd just see the ground swallow that poor soul up. Also, wow, I can't believe I missed this yesterday. Touhou is one of my favorites and I so rarely hear anything about it. |

My guess is that western fans kept asking him and he figured there's no harm in an official English version. I don't know the reason behind his initial refusal for any official translation though. |
