Probably due to fans coupling him with Levi. I swear, ErwinxLevi is arguably the most popular couple among AoT shippers.

I read the article/subheading and was going to say, "Well duh, if they polled Bessatsu Friend (a shoujo magazine), of course it's mostly guys who are popular with female readers." But from the image, it looks like this is actually a poll from Bessatsu Shounen Magazine. ...and it's still mostly guys who are popular with female readers :)

Well! I definitely wasn't expecting that result! Rolling Eyes

Count me amongst those that don't really understand why Erwin is so popular. I know that people like to ship him with Levi, but I still don't get it.

I'm not up to date with the manga, but I thought Sasha was pretty popular (not in Mikasa or Levi levels, of course) so I'm surprised to see she's not even in the top 20. Is there any particular reason for that? I mean, Marco is there, for crying out loud.

Considering i still to this date hate that eren became a giant, broke the character for me...

Ill go with Levi or mikasa any day of the week

I was surprised by this too. I couldn't understand why Marco was so popular until I did some digging. There's a theory going around that he's still alive. The reasoning is pretty sound.

SO HAPPY Erwin's finally getting the love he so richly deserves! The manga post-anime definitely delves more into his character development and shows just how devoted he is to saving humanity, whatever the personal cost (both physically and conscience-wise).

I'm sure the Eruri fandom helped bolster Erwin's vote too, but it's still not as big as the Ereri fandom. I think Erwin's high rank has more to do with fans in general appreciating him more based on recent manga chapters.
