Well, the original DBZ and Sailor Moon were not that well-animated... -_-;

DBZ actually had some pretty solid stuff for its time, although obviously there were a lot of cheap episodes to balance it out.

Why? WHY!? What more can Toriyama bring to the series 18 years after GT? He was fed up with it by the end of the Buu Saga and his newest movies have shown that the most innovative thing he's come up with in the past 20 or so years is to change the hair colour of Goku from black to red or yellow to blue.

I'm not saying my inner child isn't intrigued by the major inspiration of a whole 2 generations returning but progress has been made in storytelling in the anime/manga industry. We can't keep going back to DB again and again.

Soo...

Will this be 'just another GT'?

Or will this be a 'well-overseen by Toriyama' kind of GT?

Is GT replaced by this, then? (story timeline-wise)

Dragon ball is a dinosaur, it spawned many things in it's image and the parts that weren't used in evolution died off. Toriyama helped sire in some of the greatest mangaka of our time, but beyond a nostalgic factor and as new material for die hards, I don't see this project reaching a new audience. The game has changed, and manga's&anime that contain the same quality of depth as DB are either grand fathered into relevance (One Piece) or shuffled into the fluff Shonen category(not a compliment).

I don't want to see Toriyama's legacy tarnished in any way, but that's what will happen if he continues to hang around too long.

As long as it doesn't have any noodly-armed CG transformation sequences, I'm all in.

I kind of feel sorry for GT now that it's being completely ignored. It wasn't great by any means but it had its good points.

*ahem*

AAA~!

[EDIT: Shortened because it was needlessly messing up column width. - Key]

[EDIT: Shortened even more 'cause it was still messing up the width. -TK]

But in all seriousness I'm not sure what to think of this. I'm going to wait until I see Resurrection F before I decide whether Toriyama's passion for the series has returned or this is just Toei being stupid and forcing him to do stuff he doesn't want to do for money.

GT isn't canon because:

a) Why go Super Saiyan 4 when you can go Super Saiyan God (And beyond)?

b) In a nod to GT, Pilaf and the gang do manage to gather the Dragon Balls in Battle of Gods only to screw up the wish and revert themselves back into children.

They're still 'children' long before Battle of Gods appeared.

Ossha!

I really want to see Goku vs Broly in another deathmatch, to see who's really the strongest saiyan! Gohan's my favorite but he's a little pacifist and he already had his time as the greatest.

Well, Cell could make another entrance given he will absorb even the Hell's Hades Anime hyper

"Son Gokū's seiyū, Nozawa Masako, annonced today at an event that a new Dragon Ball anime is in the works. Son Gohan's seiyū (Nozawa Masako) was also in the event and said that she would reprise her famous role in the new series. Son Goten's seiyū - Nozawa Masako - wasn't available for comment directly, but confirmed in a message via her Acting Agency (Aoni Production) that she, too, will return."
