It's worth noting Symphonia and Phantasia take place in the same world, as well. But outside of those two, the rest of the series is not connected, as far as I am aware.

Destiny 2 is a direct sequel to Destiny as well. Same with Xillia and its sequel. And regardless of the hate it gets, Dawn of the New World does take place after Symphonia.

Symphony 2 isn't considered a mothership title, though, whereas Destiny 2 and Xillia 2 are. There are also a number of Narikiri Dungeon titles that take place in the Symphonia/Phantasia world.

I was always curious about these games because they technically bring characters from all the major franchises together, but I guess they are usually considered non canon.

"Experience the controversial move in an all new format. Tales of Zestria: The Animation"

The animeanime.jp website initially reported that the anime is an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria, but it updated its article so that it only states that it is an adaptation of the Tales of franchise. Bandai Namco Entertainment also characterizes the anime as a Tales of project, and not an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria specifically.

And??

Hey people quick question. Are the tales of series worth watching?

Yes, I have watched them all and played all Tales of ... games, and I do mean ALL. Most of the anime counterparts require knowledge of the games to actually enjoy, otherwise most chances are you will not understand what is really going on and then come to the wrong conclusion that they are not good or suck, they are meant to be a reward for fans of the games not be a replacement to the other, the experience is different, not because one played the games means one cannot enjoy the anime ver, in fact most fans will love them but those going blindly to them probably not much.

The one that actually goes on the adapt a game almost faithfully is Tales of the abyss. But the others I do not recommend watching them without playing the games, but if you go at them with an open mind knowing this most chances are they will interest you enough to make you go play the games to get the full experience.

At the Tales of Festival where it was announced, they said it was a TV series for Zestiria, according to Abyssal Chronicles' person who was there, according to this tweet

They're really sure that it will be the Tales of Zestiria animation and not some kind of the original work? Given the controversy thing around Zestiria, it only pours salt on the fans wound.

ANN also had a representative at the event, and Bandai Namco Entertainment itself did not specifically state that it was an adaptation of Tales of Zestiria. The promotional video just said, "The journey of the shepherd transcends Zestiria."

People still use the term "mothership title"? A lot of fans just plain hate that term, as well as "escort title", and generally laugh them both off.

They're like little self-contained crossovers within the Tales worlds. Kind of like Dissidia for Final Fantasy. They clearly interfere with canon since in Radiant Mythology 3, Kyle meets his dad when Stahn is still nineteen years old. And of course Leon and Judas are both playable, though to prevent weirdness they can't both be in your active team.

Sigh, and the first Radiant Mythology is the only World title we got, and will ever get.

Sweet!! Ever since I first laid my eyes on the special episode last December, I immediately fell head-over-heels with this particular Tales game. Doesn't help that I hadn't realised this was merely a single episode and cried that it wasn't a series. The animation was honestly breathtaking. I'm so happy that they decided to turn it into one now!

Tales of Symphonia has 3 4-episode OAV. I watched the first one. It was decent enough, except it a) massively rushed through the story, b) changed the order of events, and c) actually contradicted the game. There's a reason I didn't watch the other 2. Also not legally available in the US.

Actually, it only has 2 4-episode OVAs and 1 2-episode OVA. The last arc was just a total mess. After the first arc, everything went downhill IMO. They changed everything and I hated it. It was only pretty to look at. There was also no time to flesh out the characters...which is a Tale's series strong point in games.

The only good adaptions personally to me are Vesperia (because it's a prequel) and Tales of the Abyss TV Anime.
