More Free means more fun Razz

How I wish this would debut in Summer instead. Hope we get a speedy BD release next year.

I want to be excited for this, but taking characters from a series meant to be for fanservice and aging them down...I don't know.

I want to see these characters in college, not middle school.

I may be a boy, and i may believe this show is yaoi and more female orientated, but as a person wishing to be an animator, this series is a gift because the animation and techniques used in it are breathtaking.

Except, for the umpteenth time, it's not yaoi (yaoi is porn and contains explicit sex; last time I checked no one in Free! is canonically gay or bi) and just because it's aimed at females (and males who like looking at other males) has nothing to do with your dreams at becoming an animator. Also, KyoAni has like 10+ other shows to take inspiration from like Haurhi, FMP:TSR, and Nichijou.

Anyway, it's better for the 2nd High Speed to be adapted than a college story cause it introduces new characters and clarifies why Sousuke and Haruka have such a tense relationship. There's also the possibility of showing a darker side to Makoto and Nagisa to give their older counterparts more depth. If there was an older story, then it should be for the Tokyo Olympics IMO.

Well KyoAni said that all the voice actors will be returning for the movie and I think that's something good.... I mean, we all want to see what will happen to Hosoyan when he tries to voice little Sousuke Laughing

It's no more yaoi than Lord of the Rings, Saving Private Ryan or Final Fantasy XV is yaoi. It's just a show focused on a bunch of guys as the primary cast. Just because they walk around in swimming trunks because the show is obviously about swimming doesn't make it any more 'gay' than swimmers participating in the Olympics.

But the animation in the show is pretty good at depicting swimming. So you're right about that. I imagine a Groundworks book would be a good purchase for animators.

Sorry i admit that is my mistake. And i have nothing wrong with the series being female orientated, as a matter of fact, im glad a studio decided to make a female orientated show. As for my dream of being an animator, i was talking about the art and animation of the series

Yeah sorry that was my bad about the yaoi part. My apologies. But the animation even out of swimming is quite beautiful, the bright colour palette is also a feast for the eyes

Just wanted to point out that Discotek has already released the Free! season one dvd.

I'm really pumped for this movie though. I hope to see who voices Ikuya and Asahi, they are both cool characters in the High Speed novels.

Eh no harm done, no foul caused. Wink

You're right about the swimming being a wonderful piece of animation. Apparently KyoAni animators or art directors looked at Olympic swimmers to capture the movements and way the water slouched around. I would recommend doing the same: collect reference videos on YouTube or stock footage and take notes/sketches.

I am so excited for this. But I also hope the popularity makes the novels translated some day soon.

Thank you for this comment. I have seen so many act like/assume FFXV is yaoi (or even heavily fujoshi oriented), and it's like, they're clearly not versed in Japanese culture? (Surprise, watching anime doesn't mean you automatically know what it's actually like in Japan)

I am always happy for more Free!. While I'm disappointed they're younger (because less fanservice), I am glad to see the story expanded on and for a more direct adaption of the novels!
