If we were to count the most popular anime/manga series ever by all it's mediums like merchandise and trading cards, this would be that series. However, I think had the series not had the card game, I doubt it would reach the level of popularity that it is. That is, I say that it's popularity is largely from the card game.

That being said, congrats to the Yu-Gi-Oh! creator.

Was that sarcasm? The game is not simple at all.

Well. Not now, no. When it originally game out, before the Synchro stuff, it was fairly easy to understand. I picked up on it at age 10 with little trouble.

No sarcasm intended- I thought the game was simple when I got interested in it years ago...

It seems that the newer cards must have effects that made them more complex as time passed by...

Congrats to Takahashi, I've always been a fan of the Yugioh game and his artwork. IMO, the rulings and errata are quite tricky if you're playing manually, but you can become familiar with them over time.

He personally designed my favorite card, Stardust Dragon! Given that he has done some other series before Yu-Gi-Oh!, I'm surprised Viz hasn't licensed them yet.

Can you elaborate? I'm not aware of any series he worked on before Yu-Gi-Oh!
