Yeah Arachnae is an interesting character. It could be that she's the one who is somewhat a realist. But then it's not like spiders have a rep for being the most cuddly. So there's a level of "unobtainable" here and some level of "mistrust". In Arachnae's case it's a matter of trust but she's kind of hands off. So she definitely doesn't like people being too needy or mushy. Reading her character in the manga she's very much the one you fear most. There is always something mysterious and at the same time fearsome about spiders even when they aren't trying. Then there's the phobia of spiders. I guess if you aren't phobic or even slightly afraid of spiders then a female temptress is no problem for you.

Again that's also a common trope among spider women. Being the seductress. I have yet to come across a goofy spider female.

Yeah, it seems in Greek myth that the majority of beings were birthed in the weirdest way. If you have female species the question will pop up, "how come there are no male ones". I wonder how the concept of Lamias ended up being snakes where in some cases they weren't always depicted that way. They were often depicted as something of a female spinx but with no wings. I know D&D had this depiction and it was the only one I'd seen. But the concept of a snake bodied creature was unknown. Only the naga was known for being snake-like.

Getting back to that odd gender issue, it seemed that harpies, lamias and any other female species didn't have a male counterpart. In the same way that male species didn't have female counterparts. Anyone ever seen any female centaurs in Greek paintings? Even satyrs are male. Both species were probably known for kidnapping women to have sext with. But there are other methods such as bestality. There is a known Greecian sculpture that is part of the lost and locked up treasures of pornography of a satyr penetrating a female goat. Was this another way of reproducing?

Anyone that remembers the old adult anime (one of ADV old license) 'Elven's Bride'? Remember the whole "harpy ooze" deal? Well, according to the author's take on the subject of harpies is that he created two races, the feral, tear you to shreds and defecate on your corpse harpies and the cultured and the civilized "harpians". Like harpies harpians are predominantly female. So they need male "interaction" to produce more harpians. It's kind of funny because in the manga (which I possess) you see men lined up for the duty. They take you in have sex and give you a pair of flyers to send you on your way. Sometimes they kidnap you. Yeah, real nice folks aren't they? Razz Harpians also produce harpies as well. So while they live separately they are kin to each other and won't allow anyone to harm them. It's because that without the involvement of human males they'll just keep producing "harpies". A point that Princess Purie mentions. Don't know if this was included in the anime, but in the manga while Kenji was trying not get his seed taken by Princess Purie, in the epilogue of that chapter she still secretly ended up with 4 children sired by the Kenji. One out of the 4 ended up being a "male" harpian. Of course he was falling out of her arms so I don't know if this meant he was a goofball or that they really don't need male harpians. But he'd be the first male harpian born to their hierarchy. Sadly the comic ended on a massive cliffhanger.

Umm what about monster girls from shows OTHER than Monster Musume? Like ...

Pretty much the entire shtick behind Monster Musume (and other monster girl-themed things such as Monster Girl Quest or the Monster Girl Encyclopedia) is that the girls have monstrous bodies; they're at least half-human, half-something else, and sometimes more something else than human. Most of the "monster" girls you see in other shows such as Elfen Lied or Inu Yasha are pretty much just normal humans who have horns on their head, or maybe wings or a tail.

Funnily enough, despite their benign appearances, their personalities are usually even more violent and dangerous than the girls in Monmusu... If I had to get stuck in a fictional universe, I'd probably pick the one where the monster girls aren't actively trying to kill me.

Haha he gets it.

I can't tell you how bad Centaurian beauties have it, in the no date department,

Guy: I'll date a Mermaid, an Archanid and a Zombie gal anytime

Guy 2: How about a Centauress?

Guy 1: H no that's a horse.

Centaress *scowls*

I mean at MGE there was an entire tread dedicated to How would one do it with a Centauress Majority of people were saying it was in the front but people like me stuied mythology say its in the back. then Cross said it was both and I fce plamed this kind of issue is never brought up with Harpies, Lamias Mermaids or Arachids but Centaurs seem to be the ones that would mostlikely hid their pictures or crop it on dating sites

Don't worry my wild mare I can embrace all of you Very Happy

Except a number of fish do use internal fertilization, and so do EMG's mermaids.

Anyway, this is a decent enough guide, but relies a bit too much on the limited info available from the anime compared to the manga (though it seems to get some info from the manga as well). Which leads to a number of errors, the first of which I am not sure where they even got the idea for as it isn't present in the manga or anime.

Namely Papi only once ever thought a human could fly, and that was when she saw the girl in the tree and thought she was trying to "take off." Its never presented as a common mistake for her or harpies in general.

Moving on to more subtle mistakes in the guide and in this topic that require a lot more knowledge from the manga:

1. The guide vastly understates Suu's intelligence and personality. After the "sick Kimihito" episode she is perfectly capable of holding conversations, its just that for a while she prefers to speak to Kimihito rather than the other girls (she seems to have gotten over this more recently). Why she keeps forgetting Kimihito can't breathe inside her is probably just for comedy as she doesn't make the mistake with anyone else (and to be fair has only done it a couple of times to Kimihito).

2. There is substantial evidence that Miia's problems with controlling her strength when physically interacting with Kimihito is more a "Miia problem" than a "lamia problem." That is her mother wraps up Kimihito repeatedly without harming him, and her species as a whole has been keeping communal human husbands since ancient times (and an omake reveals they are not harmed, despite Miia having a nightmare about it). Miia is noted by her mother as having been notably shy growing up, so it seems likely she simply missed out on a great deal of training on how to interact safely with humans in intimate situations.

<><><>

Also, regarding male monsters, we have confirmation of male centaurs, orcs, mermaids, and ogres. The last have not been seen yet but are apparently friendly, the first two are usually not that pleasant to look at or interact with, while the mermen are quite attractive but have only been seen in the background so far (most prominently in the most recent Japanese chapter). We can also infer male dragonewts and lizardmen exist given how Draco was mistaken for a male.

There are female Centars one painting depicted them and there was a short verse about them, they were just rarely mentioned Starys also have Female counterparts as well there is a statue of a female stayer nursing her infants.
