All anime these days have been reducing episodes counts so it's no surprise Gundam follows suit.


That's mostly due to cost reasons as well as it's cheaper to do that and balance it with merchandise which Gundam thrives off of. I think the first kits are coming out soon and this series has a gimmick of a half-finished Gundam that can rip parts or get upgrades to increase its firepower.

It is at a reduced cost. Basically they're throwing in some special stuff and reducing the price and number of episodes on the first disc. It isn't an uncommon approach at all.
