I don't understand why she can't just be called Link. Link isn't exactly a gendered name, it's just a name the devs made up.

... Maybe because she actually isn't Link? There's already "Link" in the game, so they at least need a new name for her, because most people would be mixing the two of them.

There's the need to have a difference between them, since Linkle isn't only a "genderbent" version of Link, her play style is different.

Well, yeah, in terms of Hyrule Warriors, I guess that makes sense.

This is what happens when you mistake Link for Zelda too many times, people. Tsk tsk tsk...

It's of note that when she was being originally developed, according to the artbook, she was designed as Link's little sister. She is her own character, she is not "female Link."

I just saw the hood first and thought, "Hey, that looks like that girl from Dragon's Crown". Apparently, I'm super wrong. Damn, does she look awesome.

All I really hope is that there's a way to get a lot of these exclusive 3DS stuff of Hyrule Warriors onto the Wii U without having to get the 3DS game itself like a DLC pack of some sort.

Ok this would be pretty awesome haha.

I hope that this character is popular enough to warrant Nintendo offering up female options for Links in the main games. If the models are mostly similar then animations wouldn't have to be redone or anything, so it would be really easy to implement.

No she's not. Only pure Zelda games are canon.
