Can't upload an avatar

I have been with problems trying to upload an avi. When I used FAQ, I was taken to animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3678

Then I found the sentence "In order to upload your avatar go to your profile here."

However, for some reason, it took me to a white page. Has this been happening to others? Regards.
