I wouldn´t be surprised if the series soon pulls a Fist of the North Star or JoJo and "graduates" to a Seinen imprint. The series couldn´t be more out of place in SJ´s current line up if it tried.
The ch. 340 info is further correct.
Poor Togashi should have taken a longer vacation! He admitted right after the end of YYH that working on it greatly hurt his health (my military training was pretty grueling but SJ slavery never ends...) so he, and his wife, 100% deserve to retired in piece. They are some of the bestselling authors of all time after all but i obviously accept more gifts from the master.
Is it true that he uses hasn´t been using assistants for years? That´s would be crazy if true.

You know it's hard out there for a HxH
Though to be fair so is being a Bastard or a Beet The Vandal Buster.

So I don't read HXH and I have no patience for the crap the author pulls, I think he's making up the reasons for his hiatuses and just doesn't want to draw.
In all seriousness if this comes back again only to go hiatus fairly quickly people really need to stop giving this guy credit as a good mangaka.

Good. I finally have a justification to subscribe to Weekly Shonen Jump besides "My Hero Academia" and "Blue Exorcist" (especially since the latter is monthly).
Let's just hope that if we're getting another hiatus soon, this will at least be like the end of the Chimera Ant arc and the Chairman Election arc where Togashi still managed to get a hefty amount of material out.

Well, I'd say he's a good storyteller and a good artist, and how often he goes on break has nothing to do with it, even if it is stupid annoying.

Well, there IS a reason for that. Yu Yu Hakusho is known for its somewhat abrupt (yet very good to me) ending, and it was born from a dispute with Togashi and his editor, apparently the core problem was the schedule (maybe Togashi wanted to work like Miura in Berserk, monthly and 18 pages). YYH ending was decidely not good for the Jump, and when they saw how much HxH outdid YYH, they realized it was not a good idea to drop it off.
And to be fair, while I do respect a lot mangakas that devote themselves to an almost unhealthy work (seriously, a weekly mangaka schedule is incredibly exhausting), I'd prefer for them stopping for a while and bring better content than rush to fill the week, it's what happened to me with One Piece, I fell out of love with it past chapter 600 or so, and while I kept reading it, I felt that the long run has been wearing down Oda a lot both in writing and health.
Because their work IS commendable, mangakas should have a better schedule for work, with less pressure from editors and publishing companies, but I don't see this in a near future, sadly. |
I can respect that, but Togashi isn't publishing an 18 page chapter a month either, if he was i'd have no problems. He's a publishing a random amount of chapters every 8-14 months. I can handle him publishing less often. but even so what he publishes is ridiculously few and far between. Is it so much to ask for SOMETHING that at least RESEMBLES a schedule?

We will cherish those 4 chapters until the next hiatus starts.
