WHY!? WHAT CRUEL GOD WOULD CREATE SUCH AN ABOMINATION?! |
Still looks better than the 90s cartoon.
Let's look at the cycle for these shows:
1. Show is announced.
2. Reaction is mixed at worst.
3. Character designs are revealed.
4. We automatically assume the show will suck on that principal.
5. Show comes out.
6. Everybody loves the show.
Why do I think this will happen? Because it already happened with "Transformers: Animated," "Spectacular Spider-Man," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012," and "Sonic Boom." |
Normally I world agree with this statement, but it's "Man of Action", and their shows tend to look really cheap. Who knows? Couldn't be worse than NT Warrior.

This image just makes me nostalgic for the madness of the Ruby-Spears Megaman cartoon.

Mega Man looks weird but I'm definitely up for a new take on the mythos. I doubt a cartoon could handle the classic franchise as well as Ian Flynn did with his comic anyway.
As advertised hopefully this will be something that fans of the older games can enjoy while younger kids get into it too. That was really the premise of the Battle Network anime and games, but it was too much of a departure for me and most people outside of Japan.
Hopefully this will be the right bridge between old and new. If anyone could pull it off, I think the Man of Action group are the best candidates for the job.

From the press release:
The new animated Mega Man series focuses on a normal, upbeat schoolboy robot...
Schoolboy robots don't sound remotely normal to me...

Well, in the remake of the first Megaman there wasn't a school but Megaman wasn't a fighting robot in the start.

Schoolboy robot seems like the same thing Dreamwave tried in their short lived Mega Man comic. It just always felt like something needed to make the Astro Boy rip off complete.

Isn't there a really good all ages Megaman comic that's loyal to the games?
Why not just adapt that? Why can no one in the US ever do a 1:1 adaptation of a comic? I'd kill for a full on adaptation of Larry Hama's GI Joe.

I am very skeptical, no, outright cynical. So is schoolboy megaman gonna be vaporizing and absorbing their powers? Is Dr. Wily just gonna be the disgruntled Janitor that couldn't make it in the real world? Even worse, will it be a Young and Hip exchange student from Germany named Willy Wily who sends out evil robots to show how much better he is than his classmates?
Also the visual looks pretty bargain bin bad. Mostly the face.

How can I use sarcasm in the internet? I actually like this design of Megaman. Guess I'm part of the minority |
I did not mean it in a negative way. I just going off of it was a bad joke IMO... That's all.
I frankly do not like now they are making cartoons now a day... They look more cheap then it use to be back in the old days of cartoon. But I give this nostalgia a shot and see how it goes.

I hate Man of Action, so I'm staying as far away from this as possible with that ugly design.
Hey, here's something to keep in mind regarding Big Hero 6; the MOVIE is actually better than the COMICS. And if another company can do YOUR OWN STORY better than YOU, something's clearly wrong.

TMNT 2012 is justifiably more divisive now then it was when it was first previewed.

Largely because what's acceptable in a comic book is generally not acceptable in a tv show adaptation aimed at kids.

I love TMNT 2012, but that's after not caring about 2003 and being annoyed by how straight up mean spirited Turtles Forever was. 2012's crossover wasn't afraid to mock the old cartoon, but also pointed out WHY people liked the dumb thing in the first place.

I could forgive the design...but Man of Actionaruto?
Oh no.
I hate them. Prepare for obnoxious characters, annoying comedy, zero character development, episodic plot, and slang.

Okay, but I just feel this isn't a worse redesign than what Ninja Theory did to Dante
