DMI's consistency and ability to get books out on shelves when they say they will has gone downhill fast over the last couple of years, frankly if June gets all of Border by Kazuma Kodaka out it will be a miracle. And blaming it on the distributor doesn't wash their hands of it either, a couple of titles I waited 6 months for them to get to Amazon. SuBLime has proven over and over again that they can get the book into the consumer's hands when they say they can.

I HOPE this means more great stuff coming from SuBLime and Libre!

One way or the other, i am powerful at social media and will support our Lady Yamane Ayano with every possible way. there are some countries Yaoi manga is not available to buy Original. but online readers and online supporters are way too disappointed knowing the news. suddenly out of no where they ended the contract...and and thousands of fans waited months all for nothing but this in the end. im not sure who is responsible for this but i hope If SuBLime is good enough to take the contract then Finder and other pending series will scan out soon. because English fans all over the world waited too long.

I've been reminded that Libre is or at least was part of the partnership that created SuBLime, so perhaps there is real hope that any dropped Libre series will be picked up by them. Smile

Publishers who can't take the responsibilities as they say then they should drop this act of being The most mightiest. Fans for English scans and also online readers and buyers waited and waited months and get all in the end is disappointments. I believe there are more better publishers who's willing to have finder as their new project. In my opinion Lady Yamane Ayano's work is like a diamond. She'll bring that out in the market and people who worth such things, will bid the exact value as it's worth.

Not to worry! DMP/DMI/Whatever They Wanna Call Themselves Tomorrow will not suffer. They still have their porn and porn-lite lines. They will still continue with their bad business model because it pays. I'm only sorry for the "official" scanlators who will either be dropped or told they have to work on porn.

I am not sad that Libre has dropped them, though. I'm sure Libre gave them fair warning and this didn't come out of the blue, even if DMP is making themselves out to be the victim. I guess we will never know what really happened unless Libre talks and they know won't.

My only hope is that when Finder gets picked up again, SuBLime ('cause who else) prints the books in the same size June did.

Your reply makes sense. If Libre kick them out because they were being nasty towards finder and other titles then it's a right decision or warning they gave them. But they work on porn over finder? Absurd. Im not judging but I believe people who work on finder should be grateful to have finder because it's The best thing they ever get. SuBLime I'm getting from all over where I search about this matter and I just want whoever pick up this protect, must value it worth and not money like others. This is what I get to know in my information sources. That for money it's all about.

DMP loves to play victim, they always shifting blames other for their lack of performance like saying they're re-organize and therefore books are being delay or working with new printing company causing delayed release.

They practically burn the bridge with Libre here. Good grief, I wish this happen sooner Libre must have been so patient with DMP considering lack of profit from them because no book to sell! Almost all of their books are out of print and the battery of kickstarters practically forces consumer to pay high premium price for a book.

Please name one other company that use kickstarter a project to publish and do another kickstarter to reprint the same project. Their entire business practice is sleazy.

I hope other Japanese publisher would realized this because I couldn't bare the thought of seeing more of manga I like being license by DMP, which can only means crappy quality, inconsistency/delay/no release and unannounced series dropped.

Hmm...and for all this they are trying to make Libre looks bad. We don't know The other side's story but it would be better if they let everyone know about this so no one will blame the main victim for real. Because fans are furious knowing this news what Libre is pulled out recently makes no sense. Yet Yamane Ayano said they will speak and just have to be patience thus fans are not violating at all because we respect her a lot. Finder series is our best Work from her. And we need Finder to be in safe hands because the Series is priceless should be worth more than it's been treating by the publishers already. They want us to buy original copies with original languages sure we are willing to but English Scans help a lot worldwide. Every fan at least buy two copies one in original language and second is English Scans. Thats the reason we need SuBLime or other worthy team to pick up Finder and keep it safe, give everyone it's share perfectly. No more no less. Most of all... publishers should take their responsibilities well if they sign a contract.

Yamane-sensei posted this on Twitter:

"Hello! For the English version of the viewfinder, I think that there is a notice from the Libre publisher. Please wait."

It sounds like they may have an option in mind for English versions? Hopefully?

I remember back when the title was initially up for grabs, there was some sort of bidding war. I had, at the time, really hoped that fledgling publisher SuBLime would be able to grab it. I had enjoyed titles of theirs that I had read in the past and their translations are sound. I was distraught when I found out that June had grabbed it, because they were notorious for adding additional censoring to the works that they published. Their translations also left much to be desired.

Their work on this title hasn't been bad however their lack of understanding at how popular it is has been very disappointing indeed. Their former business model left them with literal warehouses full of books they had to sell, so they opted for smaller printings. This was, of course, not the route to go for a title like Viewfinder or Kizuna, which are both loved the world over by yaoi fans. My hopes is that they will learn from this with their upcoming Sakira titles (an author that is also beloved in the yaoi circle) and any other upcoming releases. Perhaps they should get a better marketing person.

While I do hope that Viewfinder will be picked up by SuBLime (since Libre is working with them on other titles), I do not look forward to the literal years of waiting I will have to endure to be able to purchase vol. 8. SuBLime has proven to be a very secure publishing company and has a great business model so hopefully they're able to release quickly. I have no love for scanlations and avoid them unless the title I like is not available for purchase in English.

Hi Kinzie!
It's the owner, I'm guessing. He didn't know what BL was when he first started buying it, he only knew he got a box of titles dirt cheap and didn't care about the details. I doubt he even knew what VF was. He does now lol. I could have sworn they were supposed to keep their print runs up so people could buy the books, unlike BeBeautiful. Instead they did the same thing.

I hope they didn't spend all of that kickstarter money already. .... They're going to have to refund it, right? I didn't participate because I thought it was crap, but so many people did.

^ No, the message that us SAKIRA KS backers received was that our books purchased through the KS will still be honored. According to DMP, these will be the last Libre titles that they'll release and only to the backers who pledged. So those of us who bought Finder as well as some of the Hinako Takanaga titles will still receive them.

This is ridiculous. When publisher don't even know what they are giving how would they value such work? In market Finder has high demand English or not this is just the side case for now. Lot of people talking about How June turned down their expectations I am observing every single detail that is coming up over this topic. Then I guess no one has any personal grudges for them to speak such but they do really lack of talent understanding and acceptance. That's the reason Libre ended their deal with them. In Facebook Twitter and other social media if you look over this case then thousands of people are talking about SuBLime to pick up Finder and I think they will take it as now still we are all waiting for their next official announcement from Libre. People learn from their mistakes and taken back contract such as Finder of course is a big lose cannot be fill no matter how much you work over what. I hope this time The team should learn how to value a work that worth enough to be treasured. And not just treating it for making money. Because even fans readers notice when you mess with their favorite series. Whoever give their best to an art of course the people who worth it would like to give them the contract who value the main art. Just my opinion.

I've talked to a lot of manga licensors when I was going around the industry, and one thing that I love about the BL manga industry is that companies like Libre are very receptive towards new mediums compared to other publishers like Shueisha. They have a strong desire to reach new audiences since the audience in Japan is passionate yet somewhat small. That said, they take many chance on small publishers to publish their work internationally. That's probably why Libre gave them a chance. With larger companies like Viz creating imprints for BL and having (what I've observed) more professional and trustworthy associates, Libre is probably realigning with the most effective publisher.

That said, DMI/DMP has always been a fascinating publisher to watch, since it always seemed very grassroot-y and I've personally been burned by the out of print nightmare that comes with these titles. Frankly I'm not sure if they're make it through the year without Libre backing them. Project-H is fine and dandy but I'm not sure that they can compete with FAKKU or whoever else is in that realm without some sort of Finder Series or Tyrant Series equivalent.

Good luck to everyone who is still looking for the finder series among other properties. :/ I don't intend to sell mine any time soon for this reason alone.

Edit/P.S: Something to note, ending an agreement with a company doesn't necessarily release the rights of the manga licensed. Those have to ride out until those individual contracts end. So unless the contracts end on June 30th, it'll be a while until we hear imprints like SuBLime pick up Finder or Twittering Birds or whatever. I think it's safe to say that those titles, especially ones currently serialized in magazines, will probably be picked up but for the ones that are complete, it'll be a hard call.
