This is pretty amazing news. Hope it gets a US/EU release on Steam as well.
Unfortunately my laptop can't really handle PS3/PS4 quality games, but it's nice to have this option available until I eventually buy the PS4 for Kingdom Hearts III.

I'm kind of new to the series, so, that means that I can play Automata without needing to play the previous one, right?

Right. It's set in the same world, but this one takes place years after the first game, and the main characters and the story are all going to be completely new.
It'd be nice if they eventually got the first game up on Steam too.

Thanks, that's nice to hear since i've always wanted to play the first one but the only consoles I ever had are handheld ones. Let's hope they port it to steam too someday.
