I mean I'm surprised Black Clover has lasted as long as it has.
ironically Black clover is written by the same person as the shortly lived Hungry Joker manga, I guess readers in Japan disagree with people in the people on the forums

If we're talking in terms of quality, "Bleach" at least started off good. If we're talking about setting/premise, I'd say "Blue Exorcist" is a better spiritual successor.

Actually, I care a lot more about the big gaping flaws in its execution than I do the fact that it's a bit recycled. The series is just a lurching series of unearned moments and constant fight scenes with no downtime between them...and the fight scenes are merely 'okay' at best.

While in the beginning it was Naruto+Fairy Tail, by chapter 73 I can say for sure that is more Black Clover and less Naruto+Fairy Tail. But that doesn´t mean that if you are a more experienced people, you will find it really boring and uninteresting. It´s a work for all audiences, especially casual audiences.

Because it's a well executed "ripoff". If you're trying to avoid repeated plots and tropes, the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump are not for you.

However, the big selling point of Black Clover is the delicate line art, and I'm not sure that will translate effectively to animation.

Black Clover subverts some tropes, but it still has the most obvious ones. Why can´t I hear more people talking about World Trigger? That really avoids most of the shounen tropes. The power-ups outta nowhere get an explanation later(Tamakoma-1´s power-ups anyone?), The main characters grow from actual effort and learning as opposed to get nonsensical power-ups(yeah lately they get some, but they are little, make sense, and don´t make them OP), Osamu lately can fight, even if it´s not by much, but knows how to make effective strategies, it uses it´s big cast more properly than Bleach(some characters are introduced but not with the big promise of overstaying their welcome, and others are only used when necessary)... Well that´s everything I have to say about the series by now.

Yeah, we know that Toei transformed it into their next comercial shonen without putting more effort on the production values, but give it a try to the anime, or the manga if you find the animation off-putting.

There is no Fairy Tail in Black Clover look into Magi or Seven Deadly Sins please don't put this utter garbage whish is Fairy Tail into a Glorious Manga that came from Weekly Shonen Jump.

I think you would have to be deliberately ignoring some pretty obvious stuff to miss the Fairy Tail inspiration.

A poorly plotted manga with fanservice and the Power of Friendship? Heaven forbid. Shonen Jump would never DREAM of publishing such a thing.

More seriously, I wasn't even making a statement on the two series' relative quality (although if you want me to, I'd be happy to oblige). But I think anyone who's read both series would find it difficult to deny that Tabata is cribbing from Mashima's playbook. For goodness sake, the introcustion scene for the Black Bulls HQ was practically a beat-by-beat recreation of the introduction to the Fairy Tail guild hall

I don't like Black Clover too much either, but what isn't a ripoff of something else nowadays? Black Clover gets to be very beginner-accessible too. It might help the anime business a lot in that way. I think it got greenlit because the author managed to get a manga published in the magazine before, and it's managed to do strongly in the rankings because it's good for newcomers to shonen.

It really is. I think it appeals in much the same way Bleach used to.

It seems that you only read the first 10 chapters. I read up until chap 72 out of 74, and the fanservice is present once in a year so to speak, and it iss not disturbing or annoying. Also the Power of Friendship is never a common trope. Although the MC, Asta, love his willpower, because he always says things about not giving up. Also is a manga for casuals, and is not poorly plotted at all. You say that for the cliches but the plot is easy to follow for casuals.

Don't say it like that. Confused

You make it sound like Bleach wasn't anything to you.

it hasn't been entertaining in more than a decade, what i said is fairly tame to what you'll hear other's say around here. For me bleach was that one show that had a lot of "style",and that one show that had a ton of good op songs.

If you enjoyed it good, don't let my brutality against it destroy it for you.

I don't think people who like Black Clover should insult Fairly Tail and vise versa. Some people like Fairy Tail, some like Black Clover, and some even enjoy both of them. Insulting one series you don't like in an attempt to defend another series you like is just an argument of opinions that's going to get more people angry and arguing, it seems rather pointless. I think it's better to defend the series you like by stating what you think is good about it and leaving it at that.
