Oh man, I thought this BD/DVD thing was over after UtaPri and T&B. This still goes on. Oh my gosh.

Good news for the anime industry, at least in BD sales.

One show only selling 35K doesnt make up for the declining disc sales in anime.

Didn't expect to see Kuma Miko on the list. Though it took an 80% price drop on the Kuma Box to sold a little bit more.

Yuri On Ice is starting 2017 out with a huge profit blizzard! Smile
The discount sales seems to have helped Kuma Miko a bit...

35k for Yuri on Ice, congrats! That's awesome!

Can't wait to see Utapri's sales. Looks like Fall 2016's top anime sales will indeed be Utapri, YOI and Tourabu.

68% BD and 32% DVD for YOI's first week. Surely NOW we can kill and bury the idea that a franchise aimed at women couldn't possibly be BD heavy.

Because only women like YOI, right? Rolling Eyes Better inform all the male staff and forum goers here.

Musouka said franchises AIMED at women, not that ONLY women enjoy and buy the show. Please just read, my brotha. Also, it'd be kind of dumb to try to dispute how popular YOI is with women. They are most definitely the majority of the fanbase no matter where you look. (Twitter, tumblr, niconico, etc.)

Of course not, but it is a help in time of sales decline. I was talking abou more female otaku buying BD's and that is a big help.

Wait, but was anyone even arguing that women targeted shows can't be BD heavy? That's the kind of statement that should never be taken seriously. I've always noticed there being a higher ratio for DVDs with women targeted shows, but have never seen anyone say those shows can't be BD heavy. It's just a statistical trend. Statistically those shows tend to have a higher percentage of DVDs compared to something like The Monogatari series. And that statistical trend still absolutely holds true for YOI. Selling 11k DVDs vs 24k BDs is still pretty high.

For what it's worth. I'm a guy who bought the YOI BDs.

35k in combined sales for an original anime directed AND created by two women!!??!?

Warms my heart that the YOI fandom actually bought the BDs; I keep forgetting does this include discs exported out of the country or just domestic?? Even if it doesn't bet UtaPri or Token Ranbu I'm still grateful the series has received so much love. :3

It's already beaten TouRabu though, and by a wide margin (15K just on week one). We don't know about Utapri yet

It includes any disc sold through the retailers that Oricon reports on, which I believe does include Amazon(these numbers would be pretty useless otherwise), where the majority of international purchasers undoubtedly bought from.

Thought yuri on ice would do more than that.

UtaPri can beat it.

You do realize that the number of units sold depends on the weekly stocks that the distributor sold to the retailers? Obviously In this case the total weekly stocks of YOI BD/DVD are listed 24,513(+limited press) copies which are sold out. We cannot question the distributors since it's obvious why they limit their stocks.

As for Utapri I can't wait for Idolish7 to bring it down. As usual their anime sucks but I do appreciate the songs, Heavens slay and Quartet Night single deserves that 100K sales.

Proud for drifters btw.[/b][/i]

They don't count international sales, apparently regardless of retailer. Though it's possible things could have changed since that was asked over two years ago.

my reactions are similar to somekindofthing. lol
That seems like a really pointless distinction to make, honestly. I remembered reading that they collected data for all sales, so I assumed they published it all. I guess they have their reasons though. Confused
