At first, I thought this was "Assault Girls" with a different name. Not too far off though as it looks like they took the elements from that movie, like the same sand whales and location, to make a slightly different film. Also, it's partly helmed by the guy who helped make "Assault Girls".

Keita Amemiya's Iria is the first thing I thought about when I watched this trailer.
Might be cool but not liking the weak CGI.

I actually just watched the live-action Zeiram the other day, and was thinking the same thing. This reminds me a lot of 90's sci-fi anime, pretty cool.

I agree on both points. Since the writing for Iria fell short, I 'm sure that many would welcome another attempt at covering something similar from a director of greater esteem.
