Unlike others I think her reaction was more from the embarassment of everyone thinking she likes that kid when she doesn't. I got my fair share of that growing up and it was pretty stressful/annoying.
What I want to know is who is her mother? I'd imagine a former idol having a kid at a young age would've been a bit scandalous.

FOR REAL.
SIX IS TOO YOUNG TO BE AN IDOL.
I feel really disturbed by this...

Good thing the adult man was there to reassure other adult men that the rumors of her romantic involvement were greatly exaggerated.

Surely an "honest" mistake

Her mother's, it seems.

But who else? Something tells me I'm answering my own question and it's not good. A lot of kids don't watch these idols or go to their events.

Why would anyone care who a six-year-old has a crush on? Why would they give out the (supposed) crush's name? That's messed up.

This is pretty alarming news. It almost sounds like the news station was more curious about tabloid information about the kid's potential crush, as opposed to the fact that this little girl is being exploited as an idol performer.
Are child idols becoming a new normal in Japan? I remember the story from a few years back about the Girlfriend idol group, and how elementary-age idols were being asked to play games of Twister with complete strangers, 30 and 40 year-old adult men, at fan meetup events.
Suffice to say, this is gut-wrenchingly disgusting. You don't idolize little kids. Christ.

Those girls playing twister and in that bus picture anyone remember that nightmare? Those were junior idols. Ai-chan is not that at all and is a regular idol and there are a number of them in Japan and even China is starting to have them (and they're a bit younger). It's still uncommon to see regular child idols, but it might increase. Kids shouldn't be idols, keep it in fiction please, it's not good for them.

I wouldn't be surprised seeing a growth of junior idols and child idols in general after ban on possession of child porn and possible strict laws for loli material in Japan until 2020. It's no secret that country is full of pedos. And unlike in west, they seem to have more voice there.
Also, I don't know if it's just the translation but what it is reported she said is really fishy to me, don't you guys think?
I mean, almost like something made up or got from some anime.
Quote: | "Even though I said there's no one I like... Why?... They would lie?..." |
Also, I get the same feeling seeing her representative's reaction. Why he wouldn't want to prosecute the TV show? Why just go with "It's not really their fault".
Maybe it's just a made up drama for marketing purposes of her career.
[Edit]: combined serial posts. Errinundra.
