Not sure if it was the same for the first showing, but at the end of the evening showing right now, Anno himself did appear with everyone for the final bow as the announcement went up.

While Anno did appear (to present Megumi Hayashibara a bouquet), he himself did not make the announcement. |

"Please look forward to the next work in the Godzilla franchise and Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0" is even less a confirmation of upcoming films than those Bond films that end saying "James Bond will return" without specifying a title.
Will there be more? Yes. When? Whenever. Also, we already know about another Godzilla franchise film and we've known about the overdue Evangelion film for years. |

Yep... I'll believe in Evangelion 4.09 when I have the Blu ray disc in my hand.... Maybe it'll be licensed by Sentai or Viz Media by then? I'm still waiting on an official Western Blu ray release of the ORIGINAL Evangelion TV series. Hopefully with the restored platinum/perfect edition versions of the original Evangelion movies. (To be perfectly, I really can do without the previous two clip films...) I want "End of Evangelion" along with the TV show at least. I consider that the REAL ending of the TV series not that experimental animation rubbish that aired on Japanese television! We're getting Mach Go Go this year... Eva TV might arrive +3 years after the twentieth anniversary? I'm amazed it hasn't been announced yet! It's one of the last "big anniversary" TV shows not re-released on Blu ray yet in the West. |

So the text at the madman site is wrong? In that site's Japanese text, it says "Shin Godzilla".
