Even if I'm not a huge, huge fan it still makes me so sad seeing juggernauts like Blue Exorcist doing so piss poor.

But was Blue Exorcist that big of a juggernaut to begin? The first season did great numbers, but it was not at the level of a K-On or Anohana.

Don't the manga volume sales matter more than the anime sales in this case? I really want a 3rd season...

It's the increase in manga sales that would matter, not just manga sales. Just having high manga sales doesn't mean much since it could have high manga sales without being adapted to anime. If the publisher of the manga is on the committee that would fund a potential third season then they would want to see evidence that the second season brought in more fans buying the manga I'd imagine. Of course there's other general merchandise products to consider as well.

But yeah, generally for standard shounen shows that don't air in the dead of night the home video sales don't matter all that much.

Not sure when BE aired, it might have been an informercial-type late night airing (despite its material being as tame as, say, My Hero Academia). But I meant that the increase in the manga sales--as well as the ongoing spin-off manga, light novel (is that ongoing?) and whatever video games or other merch it has.
Why *wouldn't* the manga publisher be on the production committee, though? When an ongoing shonen manga is adapted, aren't they always on the production committee?

And it's a goddam upscale of a filmed anime.

The original negatives better have been completely destroyed.

Made me wonder how well SMC did in comparison since I couldn't remember. BSSM is definitely a series where money seems to be going to merch more than anything else, as with plenty of similar series. x')

Pretty low sales all around though, but that's not necessarily bad.

Sailor Moon at the top? Amazing! Very Happy

I don't know how some other films like the Japanese Zootopia Blu-Rays had more copies but ranked less though (I mean I'm not familiar with how these sales work in Japan)... Confused

@manapear

Crystal sold very poorly from what I remember, worse than Dragon Ball Evolution, and that's saying something.

they are ranked by what they sold for the week. so for Zootopia, it was 633 BD's last week

Ironically, the characters in this show don't show as much bust as typical harems.
