Usually I'd snark on the whole "anime pilgrimage" concept, but this actually accomplished something constructive.

I am quite surprised to see graffiti in such a quantity. I would have thought that Japanese attitudes towards litter would extend to other forms of public spoilage.

There seems to have been an increase of graffiti over the last couple of years. Last year I drove from Yokota to Yokosuka several times and saw several hard to reach places where graffiti was placed. Probably to prevent good citizens from easily cleaning them up.
Though that picture kind of indicates even easy places are getting hit. Sad thing probably all that new white paint would be seen as a great place to tag. |

If anime tourism can help improve the environment like this, then I wish those "Sakura Quest" pilgrimages increase the DVD sales.
