Good thing the LDP shoehorned a surveillance law that could allow just that through the Diet earlier this year. That'll stop the anime killers in time for the Olympics.

Such a stand-up political party, the LDP.

Don't like the name of his party fool you. The "Liberal" Democratic Party of Japan is a heavily conservative party. This lines up perfectly with what should be expected of that mindset.

When will these blanket statements on video games and/or anime just end? Besides, the kind of people committing these crimes who couldn’t distinguish between reality and fiction were most likely mentally unstable to begin with. These forms of media didn’t commit these crimes, so why are they getting all this blame? These politicians need to go after those criminals instead if that didn’t already make a lot more sense than what they’re doing here.

As he ignores piles of data that don't support that claim. And of course while his own Prime Minister is using anime and games to advertise for the Olympics. What a dweeb

While it is wrong to put the blame on video games/anime/and so on, people still should stop acting like media has no influence at all.

Abe only appeared with "family-friendly" characters like Mario, Doraemon, and Hello Kitty.

Here we go again where politicians point the finger to one problem but fail to address the true problem of why you have violent crimes. Can some things influence people? Yes. But it's not the overall reason. Much of problems lie in society based on what is being done wrong and not being done right. And when you don't address these problems, you're going to get a society that is going to become disgruntled and look elsewhere for a solution.

Funny that they look at crime, but they don't look at the amount of people committing suicide. it's always a deflection to something so low hanging, but they don't address that. Did anime or video games cause that? Or did society create the conundrum. Hmmm...

I dunno, calling games and anime violent or sexist is a pretty liberal tactic.

1)names aside political partys are not the same all across the world
2) in north America the right has attacked video games media just as much as the left. I recall Barbra Bush being anti video games
