NieR: Automata not being a nominee for Game of the Year is a load of bull.

If cuphead doesn’t win best art direction I’m calling foul.

Hmm, I fear there's going to be a split vote between Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild for Game of the Year causing neither of them to win.

Agreed. Tales of Berseria should be nominated as well. If not for GOTY at least for Best Narrative. That was one of the best Tales games in a long while if you ask me.

Gravity Rush 2 should also be on here somewhere. At least in action/adventure.

Also I know that a lot of people are hyped for Monster Hunter, but with all the hype that's being generated in the past few months I'm shocked Dragon Ball FighterZ isn't on the most anticipated list.

Lastly, no Fate Grand/Order on best mobile? shame.

Needs more indie, less of this "AAA" pandering.

You did see this is a list of Japanese games, and there's very little if any indie scene in Japan for the western audiences, right?

Well, I voted for Persona 5 since Nier Automata was not listed for GOTY. Awesome that Night in the Woods is up for a few nominations, it was personally my second favorite game of the year.

Probably. I mean, Best family game has 3 Mario games out of 5 nomination and 10 categories have Mario games (counting Yoshi) it'd be hard to believe the won't be coming out with a lot of wins.

However, I do think there's a good chance that Cuphead will win all of its nominations. I would like to see Persona 5 take at least one win.

I bet my fish fortune that Super Mario Odyssey is going to have most, if not all, of its nominations covered. The music, art, and gameplay of the title are simply fantastic! Smile

Well they can only nominate so many in one category, so naturally a few are going to be left out.

Nier Automata was divisive. Great in story and execution and many other things, but the gameplay and grind could get repetitive or boring for some.

but Nier definitely deserves the nominations it got. Particularly for music, though I think Persona 5 edges it out for pure style with its soundtrack which is a stand-out!

P5 would have taken best art were it not for Cuphead, which deserves it!

So I predict P5 will sweep the RPG and Score/Music.

Most anticipated game seems like a category that's only there for a token marketing appearance.

Nintendo will likely take home a bulk of the awards and GOTY.

Not nominating NieR in Game of the Year shows how little the guys who decided the nominees know. Now add the voting of a community that doesn't know jack shit about gaming and you get a Game Award nobody should care for...

I'm really sad not seeing NieR Automata is not on of the GOTY nominees. That game was one most memorable game I played this year.
