I think the real impact of the last scene comes to hit home while... spoiler[watching that email counter break 1000, leaves me with the impression that she had sent her mother one email every day since she disappeared. IIRC, three years I think it was had passed and the counter exceeded 1000 messages downloaded.][/spoiler]

What was the password (nunuwanu? oO) and how did she know it? I'm clearly missing something obvious here.

It was 1101, or 11/01 (November 1st), which I've read elsewhere but can't confirm is Shirase's birthday. Incidentally, it's also the last count we see of the spoiler[unread e-mails.]

Ah, thanks. I've never typed on a Japanese keyboard before and didn't even notice the numbers. Very Happy

I felt the same. Seeing Shirase's expression as the number kept going up and then finally letting her grief out was a punch in the gut. Seeing the other 3 outside the door bawling their eyes out for their friend added to it.

Tears were shed, hearts were being broken, etc., Episode 12 was a very solid episode overall. Next week will be the last episode and now I’m all sad again. Sad

To be fair, that one unread message wasn't what sets off Shirase, it's seeing all the emails she's sent to her mother that does. That final message likely will be shown off next episode for the denouement.

Ah, it didn't occur to me that Paul might have meant the remark in that way.

I thought that Violet ep 10 was going to be my favourite episode of the season, but the sheer blindsiding depiction of grief in this episode and how magnificently it follows through with the core of what the anime has been building to may mean this episode edges it.

Despite how much I may want a show to lift from real life re: Green Boots or Lawerence Oates, from the sound of it maybe it'd be better for them to return home and show how their lives have changed by their experience, how it affects them and their lives moving forward.

I was waiting for the return of Megu-chan, it wasn't until the final seconds, but HELL YEAH that did not disappoint. You're the best Megu-chan, don't ever change!

One of the sickest anime betrayals at the end.
