I'm surprised no American publisher picked up the rights to the series after Tokyopop. It's always been fairly popular. And since the series isn't actually pornographic (despite what our encyclopedia's "Objectionable content" rating says), it could probably get away with being stocked at Barnes and Noble.

Good job. I was surprised when this was released some years ago. The only time I got to read some of it or was exposed to it was through "scanlations". I enjoyed it. it was sexy and fun all at the same time. Some of the ideals might be a little outdated but still serves as a defining piece of work on such a subject. It had a following. But it is a pretty LOOOOONG series. Tokyopop released around 4 combined volumes. So that was enough for many to get just a taste of what the series was about. But I don't think Tokyopop would've been able to continue releasing it as interests wan off and on.

I purchased all 4 vols. and that was a task in itself considering which retail chain I was purchasing the product from. There was always that issue as to whether they could get it or not considering that the 4th vol was the last one and there was no update as to whether future issues would follow. So there was a huge delay with certain retailers as to whether that last volume would be provided to customers. I recommended the volumes to our collection. I mean if you can have manga that covers a range topics why not sex?

Since we're kind of limited on shelf space, we have something of an "example" that students can take a look at.

Now I'm thinking back to that old article that ANN did a couple of decades ago about some women's comics that were banned from stores because the subject matter was pretty risque despite it's target audience being women young and older. I would've been curious to see the content of those books that were subject to controversy by various activist groups.
