Changing default email address and deleting old email address

How can I change my default email address to a new (and hopefully permanent) one and delete the old default email address?

Go here: animenewsnetwork.com/account/edit
Click "add an e-mail"
Follow the instructions.
After the e-mail is verified, go back and set it as primary.
The remove the old one.
