The scene with Sylvie went on for too long. It told its joke, but it just kinda kept repeating it. Otherwise I really enjoyed the episode. While it was obvious that Diablo was going to win, Galford was still a menacing opponent. It was a good fight.

That, and people don't immediately get drunk after chugging a big glass of ANY alcoholic beverage. Even with a lightweight like me, it takes some time from you start drinking to the alcohol takes effect.

Perhaps not so obvious. Galford is stated to be over level 100 and thus his basic strength already exceeds Diablo's, remember Diablo is a sorcerer and a Demon to boot thus STR is not his forte. A lot of the fight came down to Diablo's prior knowledge and experience from his player days enabling him to accurately predict his opponents movements and fighting style and knowing the correct countermeasures.
I've not yet watched the episode nor read the novels up to that point so I don't know if they omitted any of that info but I've read the manga.
I very much doubt Galford is a one-off character, I don't expect a plot to just to toss such a high-level character to the curb in a world where most prominent ones are only fraction of those levels, simply too much story-telling potential for him to appear later as an antagonist or something else.

Amazing! People watch a fan service show and complain about it.

People also complain about anime in the other genres like shonen, slice of life, sports, BL, GL. Nothing new.

I lost count of that situation happen in anime and manga. Even in case of drinking something with low alcohol like amazake. Is just one of those plot devices. Don't need to think too seriously about it.
Drunk Diablo using Sylvie as a dakimakura was hilarious but i understand some people don't find it funny.

This week's episode had a lot going for it. Dark deaths, Grand strategy, an actual threat and James Bond scenes. You'd think it would be too much to pack it all into one episode, but it worked out somehow.

That's how it works in World of Warcraft though.

Yeah, but I meant the fanservice itself.

I see. Well, is just a cultural thing. Some people are not comfortable with fan-service and a few are even offended by it.
Everybody have the right to complain about things they don't like.
As long as those people are not asking for censorship or bans on those kind of anime, I'm OK with them complaining, even if i don't agree with them.
Live and let live is my way of life,
For me, I'm OK with all kinds of fan-service (except when they deliberate change the plot and ruined the story, just to put even more fan-service like in Rosario + Vampire or Hajimete no Gyaru) .
After all, is just 2D fiction. There is no need to think too much about it.

I'm actually scratiching my head that that people think this is fanservice. There is not a boob shown or anything. It really is lightweight.
What do people call the stuff in Highschool D? Porn?

Personally, I like Saddler's petrification scene in the LN and manga more cos it was done in public so his fail felt even more satisfying when the people starting mocking him and his group

That does sound better. Would have definitely made the scene more humorous. I wonder why the anime adaptation decided to do it the way they did?
The only thing I can think of is how the scene kinda sets up a possible future confrontation between Alicia and Diablo centering around his magic reflecting ring.

I think it's fairly clear that the uncensored BRs are going to have some actual nudity. While this may not be as fan service-intensive as some, it's solidly a middle-of-the-road title.

Quote: | There is a ton of foreshadowing that Alicia's supportive reaction to the reveal of Rem's secret might not be as genuine as it seems, but the episode is very wishy-washy on committing to any foreboding tone. Yes, it's a funny detail that Diablo attributes his own unease to his social anxiety rather than recognizing RPG cliches when he sees them, but I think that undersells the situation in a way that's confusing. |
I don't understand the complaint here. The hints were about as broad as they could be without having Alicia gloat evilly over one of the girls' shoulders. It undersells it in a way that's intentionally not a flag-waving announcement through a bullhorn, which is what it sounds like you wanted them to do. oO
As it was, it felt heavy-handed enough that I half expected Alicia to whip out a dagger and stab Rem in the middle of the hug. That said, I don't think Alicia is evil, but she is a Knight and apparently killing Krebskulm is her duty, and she's very much about duty. She obviously has a Crisis of Conscience™ moment coming up.

Yeeaaah, I think that scene got it right. Isn't it supposed to leave us a bit confused? The mood was really tense before the confession, but then Alicia's acceptance seemed very genuine. Obviously something is off, but with the way the scene played out makes it harder to predict what Alicia is going to do.
