In case of incest fiction, its been around for thousents of years, since ancient Greece.

Did you, uh, not read the rest of my post? I fully understand why porn exists. I don't understand why fourth-rate not-porn with no payoff exists.

No everyone want to see explicit porn. Is the same way as i like to watch ecchi shows, some of them almost softcore like Masou Gakuen and Shinmai Maou, but i have no interests in hentai.
Like me, there are a audience for this shows. Is a niche, but still exist.

Also not everyone expect a literary master piece of every novel been published. Some people just want to have fun reading some silly lighthearted stories, some of them making no sense.

As long as there are audience, there are people writhing it. This kind of stories make a big part of web novels been write right now in WN sharing sites. And some of them are among the most popular on those sites, and that means sooner or later they will be published and maybe get a anime adaptation.
Just because mainstream don't like then, that don't means there are no market for it.

The show exists because it is an advertisement for the novel. Apparently a very poorly done one, but an advertisement never the less.

The novel exists because, well that is a bit iffy. Judging by the fact that publishing companies are running competitions and dredging for works from self publishing internet sites, there is apparently more market for light novels than there are competent writers. I would suggest that the results suggest that the production committee didn't have much faith in this and underfunded it, ensuring its failure.

As to the issue of porn versus ecchi, different people have different tastes. Some people prefer hints and suggestions to open sex. Others like a semblance of a plot with their sexual innuendo. The fact that this show does it very badly makes it a poor example for a discussion of this subject.

Oreimo was pretty good until politics of that time get involved and made the author change the ending to become less explicit (the ending is more explicit in the LN). Nowdays he would be able do to the ending the way he wanted.

Eromanga Sensei is one of the best imouto LN and the world of LNs is one of the best things about Eromanga.

Imouto Sae Ireba Ii Is a joke. Is a very fun joke but can't be take seriously.

Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja nai I heard god reviews from Japan about the LN and the manga but the anime is a complete disaster and i don't know what Kadokawa was thinking choosing this new studio or not giving the enough time to develop before releasing the anime. It was better to delay for a another season and give a better anime to audience. It is a failed promotion. Is better they think about it for the next LN promotion animes.

Also is a wake up call about foreign outsourcing of anime. Is better to spend a little more money and use Japanese manpower/studios/companies for anime than outsourcing to less than good foreigner companies.

I feel you pretty much sum up everything perfectly.

If they just started over it would probably be fine, nobody would care if they delayed it a season either (of the audience anyhow). Like, Eromanga Sensei is there as a recipe for how you do this stuff well. The animation is probably the most important thing about these types of show and you can't allow yourself to cut corners on it. I guess this serves as a lesson for why you should pay your artists and animators and give them the time they need to make the product.

I just...fundamentally do not understand why shows/novels like this even exist in the first place. Like, let's work with the reasonable assumption that the endgame for this particular genre is to be fap-bait. If that's the case, then there's literally an entire universe of doujin out there catering to every depraved sub-fetish imaginable. Some of them even have really good art! And they're pretty much guaranteed to, er, get the job done far more efficiently. So if that's the case, why would anyone subject themselves to episodes' worth of horrific writing, garbage animation, and ear-grating "onii-chaaaaannnn~"s for what amounts to zero payoff? That's the weirdest part to me about shows like this: they manage to be both really creepy AND shockingly chaste. They straddle this seemingly-pointless middle ground of not-legitimate-storytelling, but also not-porn. Why bother?

(A friend of mine made a spectacular analogy: there's a good reason why Hooters is going under, while both fine dining establishments and strip clubs are seemingly doing just fine.)

Speaking of fetish doujins, know any ones about very muscular females?

In general terms, sometimes what you want isn't outright porn, but just something suggestive. Not everything has to be all the way one thing or another; there's nothing wrong with a somewhere-in-between. For instance alcohol; why bother having beer when absinthe exists to get you drunk far more efficiently? More specifically, why's there all this hypersexualised anime where they still make sure no actual sex happens? Honestly there's a PhD thesis in describing the psychology at play there, but the TL;DR version is that a certain breed of otaku really wants sexual imagery of their desired character but also wants said character to remain "pure".
Also, for some of the subject matters, it's as much about not crossing a line (or at least having some level of deniability) as it is anything else. Like, porn where a guy shags his sister is less excusable than a suggestive but non-porn show where a guy keeps unwillingly getting looks up his sister's skirt and she gets oddly jealous whenever he talks to another girl, and the other usual tropes.

But then why do strip clubs exist when you could go to a brothel?

I was looking for the bad animation, but saw very little of it in the screen shots taken. Unless your being very specific about the way its drawn?
