And it seems it is mostly rapey,not having to do with anything that cannot be seen in the actual manga,like something behind the scenes. This is just completely derivative. I have lost my respect towards him. That's it. Other mangakas might have done the same thing but at least they do it the right way(not all of them still). Of course making an R+18 dojin of your own series will have your fanbase running behind you but this is the easy way of doing it. If I knew better Japanese I would have posted the exact message in his pixiv page since he answers to a lot of people there. Would be interesting. Have a nice day everyone. |

Why not? He is the actual creator and owner of Yakitate Japan. Most Japanese publishers don't actually forbid their creator for making porn, especially if it's a finished series from a decade ago.
Nope, at least to the Japanese industries, doujin isn't considered commercial or at east mass commercial. They're limited in quantity. Artist who prints over hundreds or thousands are like 5% and only the pro, big names, or overconfident dumbass who has too much money. Most artist actually print less than 100 or even 50 and don't expect them to sell out. This is why they almost never goes suing random artist (unless you're nintendo). And yes the industry DO acknowledge the significance. That's why many games (particularly mobages) and anime often use popular doujin artist as character designer (though, almost everyone is part of doujin industry nowadays). For popularity and doujin (erotic one included): Usually popularity comes first, then people will start to jump the ship. But not always. Since doujinka are fickle bunch, some will jump into popular stuff without 2nd thought, while other stick to their favorites even if the series isn't popular or don't have running anime/manga/game/novel . Do note that having anime adaptation is not always required to get popular. Kancolle and Azur lane are gigantic in Comiket yet it took quite a while for them to get anime. Then there's Touhou where their console games and anime adaptations are made by the fans themselves since the creator refused any commercial adaptation. |

It's not a yuri doujin, although I wish it was. It has plenty of yuri but a bit of het too. If the latest Pixiv art is anything to go by, spoiler[Azuma, the MC of Yakitate Japan, may show up in the next chapter.]

Good for him that he has such a healthy relationship to his work. Many other artists could learn a lot from his example. |
