This is why I ordered the Japanese BD some years ago. Much to my shock when I came across it, it contains the old Pioneer/Geneon English dub. The video is very impressive. I hope Nozomi uses the same masters. |

Looking forward to both SZS and Gundam Seed.

Wasn’t the Seed re-dub finished ages ago? At the time it was announced, they specifically mentioned having an accelerated recording schedule, and that was two years ago. Several voice actors also tweeted about recording their final episodes at least more than a year ago. There’s something else going on with the delay.

Yay, so excited for SZS. I, too, had it preordered years ago and was super bummed when it ceased to exist. I'm glad of the other rescues too since I rather like El-Hazard and A.D. Police, but I already own all of those already. Just glad they're coming back into print.

I'm definitely double-dipping and getting Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket on Blu-Ray. That OVA does more in six episodes than most Gundam anime (or anime in general) do with 26+. It's an incredibly well-written, well-directed work that even non-Gundam fans should give a shot. I like to watch it in the holiday season.
Boogiepop Phantom is worth picking up, too. The storytelling is unconventional, but after a few episodes, you get into the groove. It'll make a great companion piece to whenever Funimation puts out the newer Boogiepop anime on discs. |

I think they also redubbed Seed Destiny too, so I'm wondering when they'll release that. |

Thanks for the clarification--now I'm just merely curious about this title. |

Yeah, the dub's a pretty solid Animaze work. Brianne Siddall, David Hayter, Wendee Lee, etc. Directed by the late, great Kevin Seymour, too. |

All I can say is that it's about time somebody re-released one of my all-time fav shows again on bluray-El-Hazard-The Magnificent World. I've had the japanese bd set since it came out a couple of years ago. I'm thinking that (as with the Aria kickstarter) they'll be able to upscale El Hazard 2 and use the existing upscale for the original El Hazard. Well really, upscale isn't really appropriate simply because both are film based and not digitially done like Aria. But in any case, excellent news!!

Gundam 0080 is a full-blown anime classic and among the very best entries in the Gundam franchise. The whole thing is powerful, but the opening scenario alone is super iconic. The English dub is really strong, too. Good to see it's getting a Blu-ray treatment.
Gundam X does not have a NA Blu-ray release yet...nor an English dub. Whether it takes a Kickstarter or something else, Gundam X NEEDS an English dub so it can stand toe-to-toe with its closest brethren, Gundam Wing and G-Gundam. Obviously, the cleaned-up visuals would be very nice, but a dub is what I've been wanting for almost two decades. A.D. Police TV is a mixed bag, but it's better than one might imagine. Saw it for the first time a few years back. I actually think it's better overall than the original OVAs; there's a bit more humanity and substance to it, and the art style has some flair. It feels like a series that with a little more budget and polish, really could have been in the ballpark of late-90s hits like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, The Big-O, etc. As it is, it comes up short. Good OST, though. |

I hope the Funimation partnership means that some of these will be streamed. AD Police is very much a "try before you buy" thing for me. SZS also sounds like the kind of off-beat comedy that I might like, but with a big maybe.
El-Hazard I own and very much like, but I have too long of a back-log on my to-buy list to think about double-dipping for it. Which is a shame, I remember it being a pretty show that would benefit from the better color of a good blue-ray release. |

Of all these announcements, I'm most glad to hear about El-Hazard. I won't have to resort to certain places to view it. Or pull an Edward Elric level sacrifice to get hold of the original DVD sets.

Glad to see El Hazard back out there, definitely a fun 90s isekai with great (for that period) designs.
