I plan to watch this show, but I rather see a continuation of Rebellion.

Pity Kalafina won't be doing the ED again.
Given its Aniplex, hopefully it will mean a good chance of dropping on AnimeLab

I wonder if it was intentional, to make it a January anime, just like the original was. Hopefully there aren't any crazy earthquakes this time!

I'm a bit hesitant to kvetch about how the character designs seem to be imitation Ume Aoki, instead of the real thing, but that was the first thing I noticed. That, and the use of many sets of railroad tracks in the trailer (a major plot development in Madoka Magica takes place in what seems to be a rail-yard).
I'll be interested to see what they do with this series, and interested to see how Gekidan Inu Curry do as directors. I hope there's a lot of their design and animation work in the series.

I doubt this will be as good as the original but hopefully it will at least be interesting and engaging.

You and I both! But I'm glad there is more being made even if it's a side story rather than a continuation of Rebellion.
And I must say I agree with Cardcaptor Takato here too. I have my doubts this will be as good as the original, but I said that about Rebellion too. In any case, I'm hoping it will be enjoyable even if it isn't on the same level as the earlier content.
It's nice to see that Taniguchi is returning to his prior job. It's also great that Shinbo is still involved, though I think I'd rather have him as the director rather than animation supervisor. Alas Urobuchi is nowhere in sight, and that's not a good thing.
