hey, the morality bullshit on cartoons aside for a second for something reasonable:

If you're big into the anime drawing scene and have officially sanctioned tease pinups of things like Madoka Magica, is someone seriously gonna come to me for that? I mean wall scrolls you bought and have had in an attic for ages that you wouldn't even think of until this kind of news

How many of the people here that defend shota and loli are men, and how many of them are women? I think that could say something about the matter.

Did you post that when the female Chinese boys-love author was arrested and given 10 years in jail? Because the fact that an active member of the UN Council for Human Rights would arrest an author because their work featured gay romance should also say something about the matter.

So apparently The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines child as "a human being below the age of 18 years."

Okay, so can I get more MILF-centric anime, pretty please? Come on and make it, it's the only way to be safe. Rolling Eyes

Reading all this and here I'm thinking: "Can I just get my feminine shota x female muscle anime series now, please? I'm mean, if a show about a muscular maid lusting after a younger girl can be made without repercussions or backlash, why can't we get the same with a straight shota equivalent?"

I wonder how many of you would do the same if anti-semitic or war propaganda was the topic and not fictitious child pornography. Would you people stand up for Isis leaflets, I wonder...

That is a nice strawman you built but promoting a terrorist organization that mass murders people isn't the same as drawings of fictional characters. The main thing people dislike is that an unelected group of UN bureaucrats are trying to make global rules for what is acceptable fiction. It is also very strange that this UN report completely ignores child drag queen shows and says that child marriage is okay as long as the government pays special attention to it.

Resisting the temptation to say "yes, they will be there tomorrow.." Smile if you get caught having abused a kid, you'll wish you didn't have those if a search warrant is issued...

I am agaisnt the stuff personally, but....
Quote:
about the serious effect that such material can have on children's right to dignity and protection.

how about guns? does showing people with guns make people use them badly?

drugs? Many manga where they idolize drug users but does this make people take them?

theft, rape, etc.

We have movies, tv shows, and literature detailing all these.

The context itself is not a problem. The person who can't differentiate reality and fiction that is the issue.
Quote:

The Committee encourages States parties to include in their legal provisions regarding child sexual abuse material (child pornography) representations of non-existing children or of persons appearing to be children, in particular when such representations are used as part of a process to sexually exploit children.

punished for a non existing person....wow.

Does this mean if I were to draw a historic manga about Europe I could draw any of that? because it was prominent back then.

and it isnt like those who WANT that type of stuff even care about laws. They make/get/share it on dark web all time.

All for keeping children safe...but this is about as effective as not allowing cigs to be in media....it wont be AS common, but its still going to happen...

I agree with what Kaorichama says, plus though the guidelines don't say any of those specifications, by "any material, online or offline, that depicts or otherwise represents a child appearing to engage in sexually explicit conduct" still means, if I am correct, that it doesn't matter if it's a drawing, or a sculpture, or story, etc., if it depicts what is designed to make people think they are of children/minors engaging in sexual acts, it's pedophilic/obscene, and even if they are fictitious images in the sense that in no part of them does any real person appear, said person who would make said stuff would still be creating, looking at, being aroused by, and getting off to, the figures of children/child bodies.

Also, ever hear of Yuya Yazaki?

Caretaker of sunohara is the anime you are looking for.

Seems like you're not really interested in getting the answers and you're just fishing for replies that will affirm to your belief. Anyway, what does gender have anything to do with this? This reminds me of the Shield Hero fiasco where people are claiming that the author is a woman (which is based on rumor).

I don't think the LN's author's gender was ever revealed, but the manga adaption was confirmed to be written by a woman. But it doesn't matter. A woman being the one who wrote or designed something has never stopped people from calling it sexist or anything, they just shift the argument a bit and say the woman who wrote it is self-hating, or is a victim of internalized misogyny. So I agree, I don't see the point of bringing gender into this discussion.

But for the record, loli is actually really popular among female H-artists and H-mangaka. It's not uncommon at all to look up your favorite artists and find out that loli doujin you just read was drawn by a woman. After all, Kodomo no Jikan was drawn by a woman, and that's the big boogeyman series in the west about the subject. Also, a heck of a lot of shoujo manga and J-dramas are written by women, and a common plot theme on those are young, middle school aged girls hooking up with adult men, like After the Rain and Musume no Tomodachi. Heck, Card Captor Sakura had an elementary school girl hooking up with her teacher. And of course there's the ever famous Sailor Moon. One of last year's J-drama hits was Chugakusei Nikki, a series based on a manga about a middle school student and their teacher falling in love. It was pretty popular and got awards and praises from critics.

Actually, now that I think about it, a lot of loli and shota artists being women make perfect sense.

To state the matter bluntly, if even one perv avoids hurting a real child, including looking up pictures/videos of a real child, because they have access to drawings, animations, whatever of a fictional one that doesn’t exist, then it’s worth allowing it to exist, no matter how disgusting we find it.

How the fudge do you see a drawing of a child and thing "hm, I want to fudge that toddler looking 500 year old"? What? You want to become the new Tsutomu Miyazaki or what?

Filthy Frank was right, if you think it's ok then you're a borderline pedo.

It disgusts me personally, but I'll defend its right to exist, so where does that put me?

If people want to claim that sexual drawings of underage characters are harmful, they need to prove it. They need to link these drawings to real-world consequences. Until they do, criminalizing it is wrong.
