God-tier interview.

The perception of the production assistant as the dogsbody is common not just to anime but Western movie and TV production as well, so it's awesome to see a piece highlighting their crucial role, and what a difference a good one can make. Even a casual browser of ANN and Sakugabooru blog knows who Umehara Shota is now. And that's *great*.

I am probably still more a fan of A-1's crazy rotating door sakuga highs (Apocrypha, Grancrest) than I am of the more reliable but less experimental Cloverworks, but it's great to see out of those scrappy, uneven years the A-1 break-away studio is heading towards healthier production scheduling (funded in no small part by a global collective love of bribing anachronistic waifu badasses into their roster).
