Finally on blu-ray! Hopefully it's done well though...unlike some of their other blu-ray releases of the early and mid 00s such as Gunslinger Girl

Really happy about this news since its been so difficult to find for a long time! I think the only major Satoshi Kon material to come out (besides GKIDS's release of Tokyo Godfathers) is Magnetic Rose from Memories. Although its not technically OOP since its been released on dvd as part of a bundle.

Definitely going to upgrade my DVD box set once that blu-ray hits. Its kind of sad to get rid of it, as it was one of the first anime releases I ever bought during that first year I started getting more into anime. And most of the other really early purchases I bought back then have since been donated and upgraded to blu-ray (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, FMA 2003, some movies).

Just keep your DVD set. I have upgraded to BD several of my favorite old shows, but I am holding on to my DVD's of them. I am especially fond of my Code Geass singles.

I'll upgrade to the BD if there's a good reason to do so. Lossless audio will likely be enough regardless of how little of a difference there is in the video.

Do we know what regions this will be available in? Everywhere you can get Funimation (even though their PS4 app is a pile of garbage) or just US?

Kon's Paprika is still available on BD with HD 5.1 but uses the older MPEG2 video. And while harder to find now the AU Memories BD is region free, so that can be imported. Let's also not forget that Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress both got relatively recent BD releases.

Along with Tokyo Godfathers very excited to be able to pick up Paranoia Agent. A little less excited that its Funi, but still happy that it will be available. I will probably be keeping my DVD box set, if Funi only releases a standard set and not an LE for the BD then I will take the BD discs and put them in with my DVDs in the box.

Awesome! I was never able to buy the Geneon version, but this will be great.

I'm so stoked! I'll bet anything the Blu-ray will be cheaper than the final DVD of the Geneon release. (Never did see the end because I couldn't get the last DVD!)

I am happy for fans of show but honestly I didn't enjoy when I watched it on adult swim. I never saw what people said why it was so great.

It's not in the ANN article but on FUNi's website, they mention there will be a timed retailer-exclusive Steelbook....which probably means Best Buy will sell this one if Dragon Ball Super Broly is anything to go by.

Different strokes for different folks...
I agree it wasn't all that and a bag of chips.. but I did enjoy it enough to try and buy the dvds. I wasn't able to get all of it before it went out of print. and paying $80 for volume 4 is just silly.

I'll get it eventually when it hits blu-ray.

I can see that, but I disagree. This show was a real testament to Satoshi Kon's storyelling abilities. "Happy Family Planning" is one of my single favorite anime episodes of all time.

Man, I've got a lot of Kon Blu-Rays to buy now, haha.
Really glad most of his collection got picked up in the US in the last ~2 years.
Now a hope and a prayer for the JoJo OVAs to be picked up somehow.
