Flü probably meant among Hololive.

Fubuki is the highest subscribed vtuber of the current livestreamer ("liver" as Nijisanji puts it) generation.

Kizuna AI is originally part of the older generation of vtubers that focused on edited content instead of livestreams. She also streams nowadays but you can't deny she doesn't have as much active viewership anymore and has stagnated, you can pretty much blame her company on that.

30%!? That's highway robbery! The agency I can understand, but 30% just for hosting sounds ridiculous. But then again it's not that surprising when I remember the general distaste content creators have had for Youtube's ad revenue system in the past.

they don't use text to speech or other notification gimmicks outside of youtube's default coloring. This probably goes back to Japan's general looking down upon "begging" for support, so although they almost always thank each of the donations, they don't read every one of them, and they are never done with the expectation of getting anything for them (like TTS or getting the streamer to do some incentive).

Yeah, there's no "donation goals", "subs goals" or donations marathons (so it could be a reason behind lesser $ compare to twitch. But then again - it's not nearly everything. They sell merch, voice packs, held concerts, promotions etc.)
BUT, the reason why there's no speech or notifications is because either they don't want or don't know how to make it. For example, KanaKana has sound notifications with text messages. Ibrahim uses text to speech super chats unless it disturbs/interferes with game or collab.

The day they start adding annoying sounds for every stupid thing is the day I stop watching them. I've never watched twitch streamers for longer than 5 minutes because of that. fudge that (literal) noise.

I am a bit lost on the whole virtual YouTuber thing tbh. I subbed to Kizuna Ai back in the day, now there seems to be hundreds of them. This was bound to happen but it seems so commercialised and personalities seem to differ little.

Sad

If you think that's bad, Twitch takes 50% of our donations that come through bits and subs.
Streamlabs is the preferred donation method for streamers.

I think Kizuna Ai dropped off when they changed her voice actress. Since then, a lot of others have popped up on YouTube to take her place. There's some western virtual streamers like Projekt Melody, but they tend to stick to Twitch since it's more western focused.

30% is a relatively normal rate. Gaming platforms like Steam and GoG also take that much from the sales.

It's not "hosting sounds". It's hosting video. This is YouTube. These Vtubers send out countless amounts of data to the millions of viewers. This has to be paid for somewhere. that 30% is part of what pays for it (but honestly probably doesn't come close to covering it). Data is far more expensive than people think. This is why YouTube is #1. They offer unlimited hosting for free while competitors charge a lot of money (see Vimeo's limits for example).

I actually came back to comment that the likely reason the top are Vtubers is probably because the big western names usually use other services such as Streamlabs/StreamElements that take a much lower cut. Though it's hard to say if they are making more still because without Super Chat people are FAR less likely to donate. Super Chat's convinence is a big reason why people bother.

The girls who vtube are very hard working. They deserve every dollar. They do all the normal stream stuff of videogames and chatting but they do it while wearing what i imagine are uncomfortable motion capture rigsuits for the 2d and 3d singing and dancing.

At least they never sit still eating food and barely reacting to a clip like some twitchers. Vtuvers theyre constantly reading our messages and telling stories and jokes never a silence moment. They play a character and they stay in character for the most part. Its very entertaining. But the live 3d concerts and karaoke singing where they flex more than just videogame skill.

m very happy to see our Sasuga Dragon Kaichou Coco is #1 but also Rushia is 3rd Aqua is 4th and Pekora is 5th. My senchou boomer captain Marine is 7th. Even the lower popular girls their superchat thanking takes sometimes HOURS to read each message and personally thank each and every donator sometimes engaging in convos.

I get that managment takes a huge cut but im sure the girls pockets are full end of the day and i assume the 3d vr rigs and stages are not cheap. So we simps gotta keep them happy.

This is going to come just as they debut their 5th gen, who all seem to be exploding out of the gate.

I know for a moment Coco was really pushing for Streamlabs during their Copyright debacle just recently that wiped a ton of their older content. But since they've kinda cleared that up the higher ups didn't feel the need to make that transition. But I know other non Hololive streamers use Streamlabs. But all of them still do the superchat at the end format instead of a Twitch styled read during the stream.

From the subtitled clips I get suggested by YT, they also have sponsorships and do sponsered content, along with merch and their own storefront. The cut there is more favorable but obviously more cumbersome.

Anyway there is a ridiculous amount of discover ability thanks to Youtube's recommendation algorithm, compared to Twitch's curation. I went and clicked subscribed on pretty much the entire team and have killed an already bad sleep schedule watching things live.

But also from what I've read since regarding Aloe's recent issues Hololive and Cover are still a particularly corporate bad about handling sensitive situations. How identities are handled reminds me of 90's wrestling circuit stuff, and how the now WWE wanted to keep people in character all the time, make their thing seem more real, where wrestling now we all know it's an act, we know it's a show, and people still can appreciate their work.
