A nine months pre-press release? Everyone is desperate these days, I guess.

2 things:
1: I hope the paperback release will support the original paperback cover designs. This is a no brainer, yet I fear the worst.
2: Yen Press forgot to add the short story 'Rainy Day' to The Surprise. This would be the ideal opportunity to redeem themselves, as this novel will be a collection of the latest short stories, but alas, again I fear they wont bother.

I hope they're going to do a hardcover version to match the previous volumes.

Consistency would be nice for the buyers who bought the earlier printings, but considering they're reprinting the old books in paperback with the original Japanese art now, it's a safe bet they'll be keeping consistency with these current printings rather than the old ones.

The main release is like the JP cover, but I saw a reply they made on Twitter that says there's to be a limited run of that:

Its been so long ago that I read the last novel that I cannot remember where the story left off. Gonna have to marathon the novels in lead up to the new one.

Man, it's been 10 years since Disappearance already. Just imagine how much hype and nostalgia a new Haruhi anime would generate.

I don't know about that. I recall that The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan was poorly received, which is why I haven't bothered watching it (if someone who has watched it could give their thoughts, that would be great). But as I've said before, I'd greatly welcome a new season or movie that adapted the remaining novels .

"Due to budgeting constraints, the Haruhi reboot will consist of two recap episodes followed by Endless Eight in full and a concluding episode. To make it up to the fans, each Endless Eight episode will contain 40 minutes of unique, feature-quality animation."

That's a spin-off not even written by Haruhi's author, so it shouldn't really enter the equation much
