It's a real shame the anime production companies never gave this title long-term plans and just made a rather rushed 1-cour anime to "advertise" the manga and nothing more.

I think you mean to say the anime did its job TO advertise the manga. That's essentially what most anime are, a 270+ minute on average long commercial. But on the real tho, I love this series, I haven't picked it up in about year since I wanted to pile up chapters, now that this announcement has been made it's time for me to hop back on. |

That's the thing. The producers didn't see any potential of the Dream Eater Merry anime going long term besides advertisement unless discs sales sold beyond their expectations which it didn't. Ahh well, what's done is done.
