UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR!
it is the primary reason why nintendo haven't gone after gambler club and jun kousaka for their pkmn doujins cause they realised that it would have a negative effect in the long term!
just ask bandai who went after behind moon when they were doing ero fanart and futa doujins of onegai teacher/twins! its become a footnote in history with zero chamce of a revival!
the saving grace for the otaku community in thid era is that A LOT of the souce materials of authors for their more popular fanservice series were at one time former members of comiket doujin circles ala ken akamastu!
by going after EVA doujin artists like mogudan AND SAIGADO PUBLISHING , they more or less KILLED THEIR CASH COW in the same way bandai did with onegai teacher/twins!

That's quite the alternative reality. Pretty sure Nintendo/Game Freak's success with Pokemon has nothing to do with porn. They make games for children. Just because they haven't as aggressively pursued your specific favorite artist doesn't mean they think it's because it helps their bottom line at all.
And guess what? Khara isn't aggressively pursuing anyone either. They put out some general guidelines. The idea that if porn artists suddenly stopped that their franchise, which has existed for literal decades now, would tank and disappear is laughable. Even smaller shows don't survive based on outside porn output. The shows you mention didn't die because of that, they died out because they were unremarkable and someone decided it wasn't worth making more of it. There is a whole lot of the world that exists outside of your niche porn. Shocking I know, but that's the truth and where their actual money comes from.

The copyright holder has to claim injury.
That means that a parody or fan fiction can be distributed until the copyright holder dislikes the work.
So whenever someone makes a parody or fan fiction, they are taking a gamble.
When Khara sent out the guidelines they were spelling out what they considered appropriate.
Some artists decided to stop infringing on Khara's copyright rather than take the gamble.

Oh that really stink. Looks like anime doing parody (or even referencing) of a popular anime will probably never happen in the near future. This is what I worried about, not being able to parody pop culture without risking a copyright holder's injury lawsuit.
I guess good bye parody (and obvious reference) to popular anime in Japan.

Honestly that is a big exaggeration. Comparing parody to pornography (which is the base core here) is also comparing apples to oranges. Not to mention comparing officially licensed material (such as a parody show) to fan made material (illicit drawings of licensed and copywritten material) is comparing apples to a 3 headed snake fish. Not the same at all.
