It was originally serialized in the Shounen Sirius anthology. I'm not sure what the exact age group is that's targeted towards, but it's definitely for guys. |

"Shounen" as a magazine demographic really doesn't mean anything anymore though. Most shounen magazines have at least as many female readers as male ones, and many manga in them are designed with this in mind (or hell, they just straight-up target girls). Sirius in particular has, among other series, the comicalization of Uchi no danna ga amachan de ("My Husband Is A Big Ol' Softy") and Elegant Yokai Apartment Life (that the anime was based on), and it used to host a Hypnosis Mic comicalization as well. |

As someone who read volume 1, I can confidently say that 'hur hur bewbs' isn't much of a thing. Literally 3 panels when Akari is first attempting to feed her newborn An, before discovering that newborn demons don't require their milk, but mana, which Akari is forced to receive from the demon king since she doesn't have any of her own. As for the potion bit, yes it is implied that demons can have children the natural way, but it seems the potion allows for conception and birth to happen very quickly, using nothing but the (in this instance) father's mana and the mother's egg. When King Gran had Akari laying on the bed, he was turning her face to him, obviously about to feed her the potion. The book actually explores a culture clash between the way of humans like Akari (humans in this other world are very similar culturally to our own) and demons like Gran (an example of this is eating being for the purpose of restoring stamina and mana; they live very utilitarian lives rather than being strongly guided by emotion like humans). I agree that the sexy baby part in the story could be uncomfortable if it lasted for more than a page, but this is a setup to point out the difference between humans and demons. The outfit Jyll the succubus dressed An in was high-tier protective equipment meant to keep her safe. Akari shot that down in seconds and dressed her in a cute little dress.
Basically I feel this book is being unfairly maligned. It's a story about a girl who lost her only family wishing with all her heart to have a family again, even if it meant becoming a mother right now. Her wishes lined up with the summoning spell cast by the demons, seeking an otherworlder to bear the demon king's offspring. Due to their difference in culture, they don't understand her initial resistance to the idea. But the demons start to grown on Akari as she realizes thay, while they are quite utilitarian in their worldview, they do still care for each other, as shown by King Gran being covered in bloody wounds. Akari thought it was the blood of his enemies, but it is not. It's his own, because demons cannot heal with magic. They heal others by taking on the wounds of their fellows. If I had to compare it to other manga, I'd go with Ranma 1/2 and Fruits Basket. The slice of life and cultures clashing from FB and a bit of the visual gag of R1/2. |
