Agreed, plus I don’t know anything about Card Buddyfight. Even so, including the creator using images of his creation without permission as one of the legal grievances doesn’t give a good impression.
If it turns out that they’re upset with the creator for damaging their reputation with his fans by saying they’re stupid for shutting down the Buddyfight franchise or whatever, I’m not sure suing him will actually bring the fans back on board. |

I tried to look into this a bit and had a hard time finding anything definitive, but it does seem like he's been open about what it was like working for Bushiroad on Buddyfight. This included streams where he used Buddyfight images, which as far as I can tell is the kind of thing that would probably fall under fair use in other places. It is worth noting he left after the game's second year, so he didn't just leave after the game ended this past year.
Ikeda has been working on a new card game, Gate Ruler, which is set to be getting an international release in a few months. The fallout from this seems to have resulted in Ikeda stepping down as president of Daiyuu (publisher of Gate Ruler) and dissolving Studio Ikecchi, although he will still be working on the game itself. |
