You can't discontinue something that didn't start. It'll come out in the fall on Blu-ray with a FSK 18 and everyone will be satisfied.

With a German dub too...curious as to rather Sentai will end up dubbing it.

Redo is a very different beast from hentai, and the HiDive brand is now associated with the title. I assume they knew exactly what they were licensing and will stay the course as a result. But it's possible that either they didn't realize what they had licensed, or the controversy might make them rethink the title.

I think it is also possible that since HIDIVE seems to be only used by hardcore otakus a potential big controversy might not affect them much because the more mainstream anime media and fans might not even know that someone is streaming the title. If Redo of Healer was streaming on Funimation or Crunchyroll the controversy would be bigger.

The series is garbage anyway...

But for sure does no one who are higher ups ever think of checking what the anime is beforehand because a simple check could have easily seen how rapey and over the top edgy this series is

Yeah, episode 1 actually wasn't that bad, but episode 2 ramped things up dramatically. Not surprised this happened.

We'll see if Sentai holds out.

You're being kind ... episode 2 makes the first episode of Goblin Slay ... no!, Games of Thrones and Spartacus look a bit light in comparison. If it were something exclusive to BD it wouldn't be that unusual, but something like that being broadcast in 2021 on TV, even at 28:00 am on a closed channel is still surprising.

It seems that the success of Ishozuku reviwers (Japan) opened a door that had never been opened before and as Kaifuku's Blu-ray are rising in the amazon ranking and as the increasing popularity in the Docomo streaming and AT-X channel, this may not be the last "heavy" anime that we will see adapted.

Before I thought that something like Deadtube was impossible, now I think: "Maybe".

The article is actually worded in a misleading way.

The show was never in simulcast in Germany at all. Animoon simply did not find any streaming service willing to take on the title. You can't "discontinue" a streaming release that never actually happened.

We've updated the article title and opening paragraph to clarify the situation.

....going by episode 2,the anime actually trying to be faithful to the source and not dialing it back. So episode 2 is fairly "light" as Redo the Healer's early "edgier" revenge porn chapters go.

The question is will they keep the underage incest group sex revenge....or will that be a bridge too far....

I hope that HIDIVE is at least putting a pretty big warning at the beginning of each episode, something like "WARNING: the following episode has content only for mature viewers. Viewer discretion advised." Some people think these warnings are useless, but I still like to see them when appropriate.

That's almost exactly what their warning says.

I bet redo of Healer is single handedly keeping hidive afloat right now. They have nothing else new and exclusive.

Wow, fully out on bluray with dubs and even subbed sountrack in less than a year? Germany sure is way faster than North America, where it takes at least a year, usually more, for a dubbed bluray to come out, and we'd be lucky to have just the OP/ED subbed (even Funimation's Violet Evergarden release didn't sub the OP afaik), with the exception of co-productions like Fruits Basket 2019, which Funimation releases way faster than the rest of their slate.

Knowing German it won't be fully out in less than a year as they tend to do parts releases like Japan.

I suspect it's to avoid reverse importation of cheaper blu-rays from the US. Germany (and by extension, the rest of Europe) have Region B coding on their blu-rays. North America and Japan share Region A coding.

To be fair, the censored version is pretty much worthless to watch to begin with unless you like seeing minute long clips of fireplaces, flowers, and windowsills.. People really are just better off holding out until the uncensored versions comes out. Although from what I always see Germany is pretty censor happy and ban happy when it comes to video games and other violent/sexual media, so I'm a bit surprised its coming out there at all.
