I am tired of Japanese cities, all clean and organized. I want anime that takes place in some western country, with dirty, gray and disorganized cities.

Well,COERSA. There are plenty of anime that aren't set in Japan. Stuff like "Gunsmith Cats,""Chrono Crusade," and others are set in America. Another example is "Black Butler" which is set in Great Britain. There are even anime that are set on other worlds of which the current isekai boom can attest. So,really COERSA,you've got a ton of anime that aren't set in Japan. Now here's a question for you. Which ones do you want to see?

My mind automatically goes to the like of Carole and Tuesday, it is technically set on Mars, but it has a very Western feel to its setting, it is a lot about music, and that means mostly Western music. The titular characters are also specifically a white girl and a black girl, a rich runaway white girl, and a black girl who grew up on the lower end of economic caste.

And of course if you mention Carole and Tuesday, you have to mention other works of Shinichirō Watanabe like Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy, they are pretty much space operas, but they do have rather in a way Western (not cowboy western) settings.

Would be remiss of me not to mention the kind of forgotten Heroman, not really dirty, but apparently Stan Lee was involved in some way for this show specifically set in an American town with a very comic book aesthetic. Stan Lee even makes a cameo in this series, perpetually asking Joey where his coffee is. I honestly think that it is a travesty this show never caught on in the West.

I am just going to say Trigger anime, you have the likes of Little Witch Academia, Set mostly in England with international cast. But even some set in Japan like Kill la Kill, which has its setting be in a dirty and chaotic version Japan much different from the clean and organised usual, although I am also just a bit of a huge Kill la Kill fan.

Give Baccano a view. Otherwise you're asking for Western produced anime for a very accurate depiction of such a setting.

There are loads outside Japan, if you count fantasy stuff, or made up places etc.

Defintiely Baccano!

I would say Cowboy Bebop has some dirty landscapes

Texhnolyze nothing beautifu here, postapocalyptic dirty wasteland underground

Wolf's Rain

Flag

Ergo Proxy (pretty cool postapocalyptic city setup)

Fantastic Children, if you are not too annoyed by the characters

Metropolis

Monster

Space Brothers (big part takes part in the US)

I'm quite sure big parts of Trinity Blood happen in places like Rome, etc

If you want "dirty, gray, and disorganized" Western cities then Princess Principal is one of your best bets. Moriarty the Patriot might also fall into this category.

I believe Fate/Apocrypha takes place in like Eastern Europe or something. Might require some prior knowledge about how Fate franchise grail wars work, but technically it's a standalone story.

There's also Schwarzes Marken which takes place in East Germany during the cold war in an alternative universe where earth has been invaded by aliens. I think (?) it's technically a prequel to Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (which takes place in Japan), but I believe it probably works fine as standalone.

I believe Jormungand takes place like all over the world, following an arms dealer and her group of body guards. Somewhat similar to Black Lagoon. Over the top violence, crazy people, you know, all that good stuff.

Another show that no one has mentioned yet that takes place outside of Japan is Soul Eater. The Death Weapon Meister Academy is located in Nevada in the United States.

Yep, I'm in Nevada right now and during the day I definitely feel like the sun is laughing at me...
