Was anyone else super confused on why Kisaki would need one of his guys to call him on his cell to report that Baji is coming up the pile of cars he's standing on? Was there multiple peaks? Is this like a report from base-camp of junk car Everest? I mean, you can clearly see the dude climbing the car pile right in front of you, can you not? Apparently not, since he's surprised when Baji shows up. Honestly, it was even more confusing than the non-bleeding stab wound.

Yeah the car mountain was confusing. I thought everyone was within view of each other and the battle so when Baji started yelling about Kisaki being the real enemy I was like "dude he's right there!" but apparently Kisaki was 50 km to the west completely unaware

I feel like Takemichi is too dumb to live because the author doesn't trust the audience to remember anything and for contrived drama, like forgetting who stabbed a guy to death.
Nao has spent his entire life gathering information to stop his sisters murders but Takemich seems to retain nothing of it.
He can't remember anyone's face even though they look basically the same as kids and adults and they're all very distinctive looking. God.
This show was fun but I'm so sick of Takemichi everytime he gets punched I cheer. Baji leaving everything to the most useless guy instead of Chifuyu.
Maybe we'll get to see Akkun back at it again murdering Hina one last time. That'd be a funny way to end it while setting up a sequel

I think the point was to show us that the "one of his guys" who called him was Hanma (who we learned next episode also set Kazutora on Baji), like we didn't already know they were cahootsing. Maybe they were doing some more strategizing in the wake of that development, that we just didn't get to hear (was his meat shield aware of his double-cross too? If not, maybe he couldn't speak freely). But yeah, really clumsy way to get that across.

I really hated the way they rendered the blood on Baji's chin. Every time they showed it, I couldn't get the image of Thanos out of my head.

You know, something that is bothering me a bit too is the handling of Mikey. The cast treats him like the second coming of the messiah and this whole arc started because they wanted to give him a bike when he was around 12. Then the character is ridiculously strong during battles but thankfully Takemichi at least did stop him from fighting (when he was having his ass kicked...). While Takemichi was a bit of a disappointment in this arc, the handling of Mikey seems too exaggerated sometimes.

Yes, honestly, I don't really get what makes Mikey so awesome. I don't know if it's about the anime not getting his charisma across properly or something, but every time a character treats Mikey like he's the most amazing person ever I'm kind of scratching my head. Yes, he's strong, but there's got to be more to that and I'm not getting it.

I think the idea is that Mikey is strong but he's also really chill, and he accepted a lot of the original members and became friends with them when they really needed somebody in their lives.

You're probably right, but I'm still not feeling it. :/ Perhaps it's because Mikey simply doesn't have enough opportunities to really demonstrate his charisma. It's kind of like, they're telling you he's amazing and charismatic, but you rarely see him actually being all that. Maybe if there were fewer characters who keep taking the spotlight...

In part of Kazutora's backstory that came with the DVDs, it shows how Baji first tried to bring Tora into their friend group and he also didn't understand why everyone was so attached to Mikey (he even said Mikey reminded him of his dad, oof) but after Mikey dropkicked his dad in the back to save him (because tora's dad was basically dragging him back home and tora was obviously distressed, Mikey thought his dad was a kidnapper), Tora finally started warming up to him. But he still resisted joining their friend group because he was so sure they would betray him eventually. Then later, after his former friends/bullies beat him up, Mikey and Baji find him, Mikey takes down all the bullies on his own and Baji tells Kazutora that they will always protect their friends with all their might. And that's when we get the "All your pain and suffering belong to me" line from Mikey that we saw in the anime.

So that's how Tora joined the "We <3 Mikey Club" and wanted to give back to him by getting him the bicycle he wanted so much and we all know how that went ha ha ha...

So when you think about it that way "It's all Mikey's fault", is kinda correct because he (and Baji), wouldn't leave the broken kid they found alone Smile

But I think they all put Mikey on too high of a pedestal, he's just a kid too.

I'm so impatient for the second season of the anime to come because it has a lot of the best moments in TR imo

Honestly to me that doesn't make it any less contrived - it would be one thing if Kazutora had come to the "it's Mikey's fault" conclusion in the juvie or something, but to have him do all that mental gymnastics in the matter of seconds just doesn't ring true to me, unless it's something that was always on Kazutora's mind anyway and this incident just confirmed it. Still, at least it's something, and it sure would've been nice to see this backstory in the show, instead of... well, much of each episode, really.

As for season 2, I just hope that the production team gets its act together because this arc was a struggle and I almost dropped the show at some points. Also, I hope that in the upcoming arc the mangaka remembered that Takemichi is supposed to be an adult timeskipping, and not just a kid...

I never expected Baji would have been such a founding pillar for Toman, or that he was trying to be a good student for his mom. It makes his death and what happened to him all the more tragic.

His backstory with Chifuyu was really nice.

I guess on the plus side...Baji still died, but Takemichi more or less made sure Mikey didn't become a murderer and Kazutora went to prison instead of a body bag and MIkey finally forgave him for Baji's sake, so Bloody Halloween more or less turned out better in this timeline.

Did Kazutora spill the beans on Kisaki's duplicity yet, now that he seems to be trying to repent? If Kisaki is still sailing through next week, buoyed by his hero status in saving Mikey, and no one's figured out he's trash, I'm gonna have to kick something.

I'm guessing one of two things. Either A, Takemichi goes back to the future without ever asking anything about it and it's treated as if Kazutora didn't know anything. Or B, Kazutora actually claims he doesn't know anything and the story rolls on as if he was just too stupid to have any worthwhile information.

Kazutora made no sense but "it's Mikey's fault" is a very funny meme so I'd like to thank him for that.

Why would he know anything about that? He's a fairly new member and seemed to be viewed as a disposable pawn so why would Kisaki share his plans with him?

I suppose it depends on how stupid you think Kazutora is (and he is pretty stupid). But I think most people could put together Valhalla's Hanma telling you to go kill (presumably) now-Valhalla's Baji before he gets to Toman's Kisaki, as Hanma and Kisaki cahootsing together, without anyone telling him so directly. Even if he didn't realize it in real time, I think that once Baji's true allegiance became known, Kazutora could figure out why Hanma told him to go after Baji. Because at the time, Hanma told Kazutora that (presumably) now-Valhallan Baji was a traitor for going after a Toman captain, which doesn't make sense -- unless Hanma and Kisaki were on the same side.

I kind of forgot Draken was raised in a brothel by a bunch of hookers. And Takemichi does not think of Hina once when he's thinking he's about to get gifted sex with a prostitute (although I've been told sex with prostitutes isn't always seen as cheating in Japan). Although I think Hina would've still clobbered him if she caught him.

I guess after all the drama and violence it was nice to have a breather in a comedy/romcom episode. It was just nice to see Hina again and her hilarious legendary detective routine. Also Naoto has matured a lot.

Emma is Mikey's half-sister? I can kind of see the resemblance now...I guess they get their blonde hair from their dad?

Mitsuya running the sewing club with a bunch of girls at this school is...the most Yoshitsugu Matsuoka thing ever.

Takemichi finally getting his Toman jacket from Mitsuya which hasn't happened since the founders.

So...is Hanma joining Toman as part of Kisaki's master plan? He was part of the plot to kill Takemichi in the future.

it seems like the show just forgot Takemichi is actually 26, considering he can't even figure out why somebody patronizing a sex worker would clip their finger nails.

He's a perpetual virgin with zero experience. Sex-ed in Japan has become notoriously prudish and therefore pretty useless over the last 25 years. Porn is an inadequate substitute. You'd be surprised at the tonnage of misinformation/no information guys have about women when it comes to sex and reproduction. See reddit's r/badwomensanatomy or any incel site. This is where a lack of comprehensive sex-ed gets you and the toxic misogyny of incels isn't even required for someone to remain sexually illiterate.

Also, Takemichi is an idiot in general, so regardless of his mental age, we can't expect him to make any connections that require him to think outside his own perspective. Plus, when he's nervous, he might as well be a tree stump, as far as insightful thought goes. And he has never thought about Hina when the prospect of sex is immediately before his eyes. Arousal-induced tunnel vision, I guess. His blood-starved brain just can't accommodate two different thoughts at once.
