Finally, been waiting for this news forever. Now let us hope we'll get more than 10 episodes this time.

I think all the anime in the isekai quartet have gotten a new season now.

Overlord S4,
Tanya S2,
Re zero finished its S2 second cour.

Now, Konosuba S3 has arrived my guys.

Maybe you meant to say four-fifths since Shield Hero is prominently appears on the movie that was announced not so long ago.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Re Zero ends up getting a third season.

I would be surprised if they do not do a third season, the only real question atm is when.

With the amount of Light novel content? Don't get your hopes up right now...maybe once the latest Arc has finish then perhaps.

I'm actually really happy about this

On a side note I noticed funimation even posted this as well. Does anyone else think that's gonna cause confusion with people who are now (incorrectly) going to think funimation will be streaming it? (Obviously the crunchyroll deal could still happen but thays still not a certainty at this point)

CR is definitely getting this, they've got S1, S2 and the movie and it's one of their flagship isekais and definitely not gonna let any other services get it... Funi apparently hired a new social manager that's having all their writers copying what CR does which is reporting anything anime related regardless of what platform it's streaming on.

Ex. Funimation was writing articles heavily promoting Nagatoro and Eden Zero and CR and Netflix respectively yoinked it away from Funi.

Yup thats what I was getting at that kind of logic isn't a very good idea. Its going to get some people upset that misinterpret those social media posts. I've not been a fan of it since they changed it up.

Hopefully they give it a complete adaptation. It's not so common anymore but two 24 episode seasons and a movie could probably do it

With the series over, that will never happen. My guess is it will be a new film adapting one or two volumes, or they will skip right to the end of the series to give it a real conclusion. Less likely, an OVA of the Megumin spinoff.

I would.t.be too sure. Oregaru and saekano both got complete adaptations after their source ended. Quints is also getting a final movie with the source completed. While anime is often an ad, it isn't always an ad and Konosuba seems to be profitable enough to justify more.

Yeah, but those were all much closer to completion than Konosuba is. The anime and film have so far adapted 5 of 17 volumes. You are talking 48 episodes more and a second film; that's basically a year-long run-time. It's already been over a year since the main series finished and two years since the film dropped. The way adaptations go nowadays, we will probably be looking at late 2022 to start airing, and probably late 2024 to finish at earliest. That's five and a half years after the series finished publishing.

Isekai Quartet may keep it somewhat relevant and the manga is still ongoing, but pretty much every spinoff has wrapped up by now. I'm sure there will be an OVA adapting the crossover with Combatants Will be Dispatched at some point, probably as a bonus on the last volume of season one for that series, but there is very little ahead for the series outside of that.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Konosuba be fully animated, but it isn't going to happen. It may be popular, and rightfully so, but anime are effectively an advertisement that they have to pay the broadcasters to air. Adapting the rest of the series just doesn't make financial sense, especially when there will be newer and just as popular series that they will be eager to pump out.[/i]

Im aware of all the things you mention, but Kadokawaw has already hinted that they are changing their business model and way they're approaching anime

https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2021/05/03/kadokawa-aims-for-40-new-anime-productions-a-year-going-forward#:~:text=Along%20with%20more%20light%20novels,4%20OVAs%2Fevent%20screenings).

That info comes from the share holder report, and of particular interest is increased profit specificlay due to overseas sales. Konosuba and ReZero are particularly pointed out.

It's good to see this. Personally, it's a bit frustrating to see Isekai Quartet get more stuff, while simultaneously knowing that the stories that are the basis for it have lots of uncovered material. It sort of feels backwards.

I didn't misspeak. I was referring to the titular quartet not the guest stars.

That didn't stop Vinland Saga from getting another season despite the crap load of manga content left to adapt. In fact Konosuba has a ton of light novel content too and yet it's getting another season.
