Seriously, it's a little cringe. Especially for a anime site, just keep things neutral/straight.

This is literally an article about a politician using anime for political purposes. I don't know how you can get any more "anime-related." Rolling Eyes

True, but it is about anime. We have thousands of articles that are about anime but aren't anime the anime industry.

Why is that if a Far Left American politician did this, it might not get as much news when a Far Right American politician does this?

Argument by assertion of bias. It's ever so much easier than providing actual examples...

In theory, yes. In practice (at certain locations on the political spectrum), not so much. Despite their protestations that there is a difference, their actions say otherwise.

Because no American "far left" elected official has ever done this. We would definitely write about it if one did.

"Illegal aliens," refugees, etc. are a subset of immigrants.

Immigrants who enter your country illegally are still immigrants.

I hate it when politicians and other companies try to "appeal" to younger audiences or anime fans in that case... ugh. Literally "how do you do fellow kids? What's new with your TicTacs and Reddits?" Did they even watch the show? Do they even know what's it's all about? Highly unlikely.

I love the incompetency of conservative politicians trying to appropriate a historically left-leaning medium--Japanese cartoons--to try and sell a conservative story of hating and being fearful of the other. Meanwhile, in Shingeki no Kyo-jin, Armine and friends learned to trust and work with outsiders to protect their loved ones and the world.

This truly was the highest form of cringe I have seen related to anime, politics, or internet culture. I don't know why anyone in his staff thought this would be a great idea. This whole shtick had "Hello, fellow kids" energy.

Really, just awful stuff from an incredibly awful politician.

Good thing its under "Interest" and not "News" then. I mean, ANN publishes not-strictly news pieces all the time. I'm pretty sure I read a short blurb a week ago that was just about Elvis Costello liking or recommending Eizouken. Its also definitely not the first time they've posted politically-focused ones either.

That aside and regarding the video itself - I can't decide if this video is more gross, embarrassing, or both in equal measure.

Because thanks to McCarthyism and the Red Scare; socialism, communism and other far-left ideologies are not in the mainstream in the United States. The furthest left-wing you can find are some center-left politicians calling themselves socialists.

As far as the video itself, it reminds of that Thanos one with Trump, which was funny because it was the scene in Endgame where Thanos lost

I loved that one. Hubby laughed hard with it.

Because in American politics far left politicians aren’t as visible or as loud as far right politicians.

Yes you do have people crossing over the border illegally even as illegal immigration has gone down over the years. The problem with this is that these individuals are almost always exclusively cast as dangerous, malevolent, selfish individuals who’re a threat to the fabric of our society. All the while the people casting them in such light are those are prone to engaging in dangerous, malevolent, & selfish acts and constantly bemoan about how we need to save this country from the browns (undocumented & born here/naturalized) and the woke mob because calling out institutionalized racism, income inequality, sexism, & racism whitewashing of the more negative parts of our history is bad and makes them feel sad.
