So going from episode 1 to 3's reviews, did it lose that aspect of wanting and needing co-ordination with his team to get through problems? Did he turn into a average messianic isekai protagonist to go along with the average title? You almost sold me on watching until I got to episode 3`s review.
I define a messianic protagonist as one where only he is capable of making decisions and solving solutions. Where others treat him / her as so special they cannot do wrong. For example despite being a powerhouse Skeleton Knight in Another World was driven by other characters motivations and needs, and they could push things in their direction without needing to placate the main character. But for Arifureta and Spirit Chronicals no side character would do anything but make suggestions or ask for help, they didn't stand equal.

I liked episode 5 so much more than previous episodes.
We already know he is overpowered. With this crazy amount of power, and the ability to practically ignore magic costs and receiving the potions from Dryad to make it more ridiculous. Let's face it.. Overpowered isekai protagonist stories have been done too much, that they need a twist to make it matter at all.
So just getting an episode that puts all that aside, and allowing us to see what kind of person Yuuji is, is greatly appreciated. He is willing to cut down a large chunk of a forest in order to get a good meal.
As long as they keep focus on fun travels and just throw in conflict every once and a while, I will be plenty happy with the show.

The third episode was a bit of a dip, but (as you'll see when episode 4 and 5's reviews drop) I think the show gets back to doing what it does best.
If nothing else, you should watch for the super cute slime friends.

I honestly find the show an intriguing bore. I go further into it in the discussion thread in the lower section.
A boring MC so OP that stakes are basically nonexistent. I find the slimes and wolves absolutely irritating too. It's a show with a boring MC, a host of mascot characters, cameo characters... and no one to care for.
But plot elements are certainly interesting. The bad guys in our RPG world aren't Demons, they're all humans. Monsters are basically just monsters... unless they partner with the MC... then they're one-note mascots.
Now with ep.6 we have giant tech? And baddies who don't hesitate to kill themselves to kill everyone else?
That's kinda cool!
But of course.... he pulls power out of his butt to take out yet another ultimate weapon.
Review:
boring boring interesting interesting disappointment boring.

Quote: | It's hard to pinpoint why the repetition with the slimes remains enjoyable but the repetition with the spells doesn't. I think it comes back to the creative thought put into it, and with the slimes there's simply more care at work and it's obvious. |
I think it also stands to reason that the slimes are generally more interesting, and thus anything they do will be more compelling.

Uh-oh, looks like the production of this series is in trouble if Ep 7 is any indication. I'm talking Wizard Barristers 11-level of non-animation. When the bad guys were watching him without moving or saying a word for over 20 seconds, I thought the player had frozen, except for the bushes still caught in the breeze of a 3 or 4 frame wafting cycle. Then later, while they're deciding if he's a threat or not, nearly two minutes of close-ups on their eyes. At least there was some dialogue this time, but the music sounded like it was for a whirlwind shopping trip instead of suspenseful waiting for their decision. I don't think even WB11 was quite that blatant in its padding to cover up that it went to air before it was completed.
I hope this is just a bad week for them and not a sign of things to come. The episode otherwise wasn't terrible, except again, they didn't seem to have enough script written for the full run time.

I'm not sure... but I think the assassins were supposed to be funny. They WERE such cliche archetypes.
"Hey, I'm Eeeeevil!"
"Yeah... I'm SeXXXy and MORE Eeeevil!"
Watch us lurk!
So, the animation shortcuts were somewhat intentional. Crap animation for a funny episode, saving it for a better one.
But if it was satire, it was really straight-faced. If they were supposed to be comically bad, it's a little hard to tell when they act like characters in other (cliche) shows that you're supposed to take seriously.... just poorly animated.
