I hope those titles reappear ... in AnimeOnegai (a latin america service), which by the way, recently became a subsidiary of japanese conglomerate REMOW

Wonder if they're using the opportunity to re-list the series with updated masters or something, at least in the case of Di Gi Charat. No clue if the masters from the recent youtube uploads are better than the ones that were on hidive but I know that the youtube masters had the ED to the original series at the end of the last episode, and the OP wasn't weirdly creditless (same with the first couple specials) so maybe they could be using the weird streaming rights issues as an opportunity to fix at least that issue...

they could also be using the opportunity to FINALLY put the specials onto hidive as well but i'm not sure...

Glad that Sentai themselves provided a list of shows that got removed and an ETA for when they'll return /s.

Hidive's service honestly feels like it's just been getting worse and worse and I hope they get their stuff together before AMC decides to cut them

I tried using their app once to watch Made in Abyss. Maybe it's just me, but the subtitles were too bright for my tastes and were closer to the middle than the bottom. It's kind of distracting and disorienting. It made me want to not use their services.

Clannad (including After Story) is literally getting re-released physically in a couple of months, so I imagine AS will be returning to Hidive.

I feel like you don't understand what's going on here. None of the titles that I'm aware of have stopped being sold. They still sell the K-On! complete collection on their site, but don't have the included OVA or movie, both of which are integral to the show's story, available for streaming. Amagi Brilliant Park is currently on backorder after their Black Friday sale, but it hasn't been available for streaming since the summer. Di Gi Charat is still available for sale right now, but not for streaming.

While Sentai could potentially have licensing issues for streaming these shows right now, their ability to sell a product isn't going to raise the chances of it being available. If anything, it'll drop them. Why would they put the show on their site for subscribers when they're charging $100 per box set for it?

I think it's more of a personal thing than a site-wide thing. Sentai seems to allow some leeway with subtitles, which can be a good thing (see some of CR's subs that try to blend the on-screen translations with the sign that they're translating, for example). When a friend and I watched Beyond the Boundary, every line in the OP was subbed in a different color, for some reason? It felt like the subber having some mindless fun, but for the audience... -shrug-

Do people think titles never expire under Crunchyroll or something?

Am I the only one who finds it kinda amusing that the four example series they listed for Sentai licenses are also the four that aired on Toonami?

Sony/CR's monopolization will be complete soon. Disney could really do a number on it tho...

It's only a matter of time before Crunchyroll and Disney start making "suggestions" to anime companies. They'll want anime to be in line with "Global Standards." Or "reimagined for modern times."

Either that or they think that monopolies are the best thing ever.

I am honestly not that bothered by HIDIVE missing titles. When I subscribed to the service I never expected titles to never go away.

At least Crunchyroll gives decent notification a few weeks before pulling titles, so folks can binge them.

Depends on the show actually. They gave 0 notice from removing the Vanguard back catalog, SRW OGTI, Fafner Exodus, etc.

Crunchyroll didn't give any notification about Bleach leaving the service a few months ago.

Has anyone ever asked for an "ongoing curation"? Funimation had pretty much their entire back catalog available to subscribers, and that worked just fine for them for years before they were conquered.

I just really want the old mecha stuff that disappeared to come back. At least I finished Ideon before it evaporated, but Xabungle remains stalled for me. The bluray releases for practically all of them are OOP and cost a ridiculously huge amount secondhand. So there's no legal way to watch them, which just stinks.

I guess it's possible they're not renewing streaming licenses so they have some extra cash for licensing simulcasts. Maybe the AMC higher ups think Hidive can operate like Netflix where licensed content comes and goes every month.
